Hi All-
I have a question re: donor testing. We picked our DE in Nov. After a couple of appt r/s she had her testing done Jan. 18. We received a call from the MD's office (left a msg on my answering machine) stating that they need to follow up on some of her tests and there would be no results for 2 weeks. I called and told them we were concerned and again a msg was left that said we should trust them and try not to worry. They did not tell us what the problem is. I am a little upset by this. Has anyone had this kind of experience?? Thanks, DotZ

I would say if you are concerned about what type of test they needed to either repeat or get additional info from, you might consider jsut calling the clinic and asking. If you want to speak to someone in person, leave a work or cell # where they can reach you. I'd also indicate in my message to them that you do want to talk to someone in person.
One thought about why they are not leaving detailed messages on your machine. There was legislation last year (or maybe the year before) that was supposed to strengthen patient privacy. It could be the policy of the office is simply not to leave detailed info on an answering machine where it might fall into the wrong hands. Good luck in your cycle! Diana |

Hello-
I have been patiently waiting to hear something about the testing/results. Have waited close to 4 weeks. Called MD's office today and they told me the ED had repeat test on Feb 3. No results yet and they could not tell me what kind of test it was. I am getting discouraged! What could it be???? DotZ |

I dont know but I remember that the DE coordinator telling me often girls come it having smoked marijuana and/or taking diet pills and they tell them to stop the length of the DE process take some time and come back to get rechecked. Perhaps it is one of those or something similar. I think Marijuana takes a few weeks to get out of your system.

Hi Dot
Sorry to hear that your clinic is keeping you in the dark. Mine is pretty much tight lipped too. I hope whatever it is they need to test is not serious and will not hold up your cycle for a further inordinate amount of time.
Keep us in the loop. Love, Laenae

My husband(who is an MD) called and spoke to our RE. He was told that the donor has missed/cancelled numerous appts and that there was no issue as far as the need for repeat testing.
I am more than a little concerned about her missing appts. She is a prior donor-but i worry that she will miss U/S appts etc. I am considering calling the agency and cancelling her! Any thoughts?? DotZ |

Hi DotZ.
You have a right to be concerned. I know I would be at this stage of the game. Maybe your RE or agency (not sure which you are using) could speak to her and see what the reasons for her cancellations? I could understand if there was something "urgent" going on in her life but if this is her normal behavior I would think twice about using her. Perhaps the agency/RE would know if she has done this in her other donations? After putting in so much time, emotion and $$$ it's not fair for a donor to be flakey. Good luck and keep us posted! |

Dot -- Any news on your donor. Has she been keeping up with her appts? Hopefully, she will see the light as to how expensive this is and try to keep the end of her bargain.
