Live in IL with insurance that will not cover- need advice (dd ment)

Hi,

I would like to see if anyone has had an experience like this. I live in IL which madates coverage for DE IVF. My dh just got a job at a company that is headquarted in CA- and they do not have such laws. So we are being told no IVF coverage is available through our insurance. I would like to know where to go from here. I have one dd via DE IVF (at the time everything was covered). Has anyone had a similar situation, living in a mandated coverage state, but insurance headquarted in another state and denied coverage? What did you do about it? Other than insurance- has anyone found a way to get financial assistance (loans, grants, etc.) to help pay for treatment?

Thank you,
Karyn

Hey you!!
I'm not sure where you'd go from here, but I wanted to pop in & say hi & I hope that things are going well for you! Still watching my inbox for an email!!

Some how it doesn't seem quite right that your insurance won't cover you when your state mandates it. Is there perhaps a Senator or State Representative that you could contact for help?

I hope someone is able to help you!

Miss ya!:hug

I live in Chicago too, my DH works for Morgan Stanley which is hq'd in New York. We exhausted our 3 covered IVF attemps. They are self-insured and only pay for 3.

I really never pursued anything, figured that those were the rules. We borrowed the money from my parents. Sorry I don't have better suggestions for you!

Good Luck!

I don't know about the insurance issue as ours doesn't cover IVF. We will be putting the cycle on our credit card that earns frequent flyer miles. We then sell the free plane tickets that we get, on eBay.

I have heard of others who get one of those credit cards that have zero interest for the first six months and put the cycle on that credit card. Then, they can keep doing balance transfers to other similar credit cards until they can pay the balance off.

The clinic I will be using has what is called an "access program" that gives grants toward the DE cycle if the family makes under a certain amount (in the paperwork they didn't specify what that amount is).

There is also ARC financing but I don't know anything about that program.
