Newbie - First time posting - child ment'd

x-post:

I didn't think I would be here so quickly but had a bombshell dropped in my lap yesterday. Let me introduce myself: I am 35, married, been TTC for over 9 years - 3 + with DH. Had my tubes removed in February 2008 to prepare for IVF. Went through 2 fresh and 1 FET cycle. Only the FET was successful but was abdominal ectopic so we lost him at 7 weeks. We just failed our last round a couple of weeks ago and met with the RE yesterday to see what is going on. The doctors are stumped and can't find a reason why this isn't working for us.

Flash forward... My 18 year old niece just had a baby boy (he is 6 weeks old right now). She can't take care of him and has asked us to adopt him. She knows what we have been going through and knows we would provide the best home for him. After praying on this, DH and I decided that we would with boundaries since she is a family member. We will probably get him for a few days over Christmas so we can get to know each other and finalize everything ASAP.

Wow, just wierd to see it in print after going through so much. Any advice for us ladies???

Thanks, I got your PM. We are going through with the adoption. I pray that everything moves smoothly for us. Been working in a frenzy to get things together, my SIL and niece want the baby out ASAP because this is so hard on my niece. I am hoping we can get him tomorrow afternoon.

Geesh, so much so fast! After almost a year of IF treatments (9 + years TTC), this is all happening in less than a week!

If you need any baby supplies, let me know and I can try to help. Babies really don't need much, if that's the hold up in you taking placement.

Oh, no... Thank you but we're set! I just came from my other brother's house - he has two boys (the youngest just turned 1). They have 2 of everything because SIL's mom babysat for them so they set things up at her house too. We just came from there and have 7 storage tubs of clothes up to 6 mos and left 2 more storage tubs at their house at 9 mos. We have 3 vibrating boppee seats, 2 car seats, 2 strollers (a big one and a small one for DH's car), a bottle sanitizer, 2 bins of bottles, some formula... UGH! My SUV was filled to the brim as well as DH's car. A friend gave us her crib so we finished setting that up as well. We were so blessed! I am planning on picking him up this evening so pray that all goes well...

Hi CalleyD!

I am so excited for you! I was on the FET board with you for little while this summer. DH and I are signed with an agency to adopt domestically. We've completed all paperwork, home study, etc... and now are waiting. Here is our website if you'd like to check it out: www.daveandsharon.org

I look forward to updates from you, and would love to see pics of your little guy!

Shar

Hi Just wanted to say congrats. What a beautiful christmas gift. I hope everything goes smooth. Come over to the PAA side. We are pretty cool over there. We got our daughter when she was six weeks old and she will be 3 in feb. Oh and take tons and tons of pics. I take a pic of her daily.. I am so weird but I want to see the changes daily and if someone was to take her I would have a recent pic of her. I have a strange way of thinking. Congrats....
