    Attorney VS Agency

Hi, I have posted on this board several times and many of you probably know of our recent failed adoptions. Because of the recent failed adoptions I have decided to try some new avenues, which has lead me to many questions! We have been on this adoption journey for quite sometime; our first son was adopted privately and we used an attorney who had actually never done an adoption before, but was willing to give it a shot, and apparently it worked! Anyway, so since the first one went so smoothly we expected the 2nd to go the same, but it apparently is not going to! I am mainly curious about what the differences are between an agency and an adoption lawyer. What are your experiences with either and how did you choose! We are currently working with an adoption advisor who basically keeps in contact with agencies all over the US and sends our profile to them when they have a situation that we might be interested in. She has a great success rate, and we just seem to be her difficult couple! The problem we are running into is the cost. Her fee was very minimal but since she is using agencies the total cost is most often over $30,000, if not $40000! Our goal is to stay under $20,000. Also, everyone is talking about networking, which everyone we know knows we want to adopt again, but as I said earlier none of those situations ever seem to work out! So, how do you network and get your profile out to various places? Your stories and tips would be greatly appreciated! We are actually considering going overseas b/c the cost is less and everything is more predictable, but I am still a little stuck on wanting a very young infant (under 3 months) which you just can't get with an international adoption, except for Guatamala, and their fees are just as outrageous as domestic! Again, I am rambling, I am very good at that! I would appreciate any guidance.

    Thanks
    Michelle

You can definitely do a domestic adoption for less than 20K. More than that is outragoeus in my opinion. I posted on the thread link given so I won't repeat myself.

My suggestion...find an agency yourself. Alot also goes on what exactly your acceptance factors are. The more open you are to different ethnic backgrounds and other factors, the shorter your wait will be.
