I was able to make some blankets and learned that rounding the corners was much easier when it came to top stitching!I also made some burp rags. I got the gerber tri-folds, then added a layer of flannel and then a top layer that was flannel or absorbent fleece (tried before sewing.. lol) and most was from scraps.
I really like how they turned out and since I used a 10 pack, we have plenty.. hopefully!
I made some different size blankets and some have a middle layer for warmth and some are light. I also made a huge one that will be great for the floor and toddler bed, if it lasts that long.
I also got really brave and created a car seat carrier! I have a matching blanket (shown on the left pic folded). The cover may be a tad long, but over all it will work and if I need a spare blanket, the inside is minky. With some scraps I also made a few tag blankies.
I had a lot of fun, with a lot of stress. I learned the hard way that the needle CAN fit BACKWARDS and causes a lot of headaches.. hahaha
Here are some pics!Just wanted to share since I had posted a few times for help!
Oh, the big blanket on the top right, that was before the top stitching, as I had ran out of brown.. lol

I can't believe how many things you made. You are sewing like a seasoned pro! Love the colors and textures too.

Thanks!
The green is so soft and the minky is well, minky!
I spent some money on those when they were 1/2 at the store... lol
I have a few more blankets, but I had already taken pics of those. I had wanted to practice so I could feel better about ordering my Cat in the Hat fabric, but by the time I was done, I was DONE!! lol I told DH I would use everything I bought and I did, minus one piece of fleece, after learning fleece on fleece really sucks at sewing together!! lol I have one misfit blanket that I said forget it and will be used as padding or something. I was just so over it!
I did learn how to oil my machine and how to insure the needle is in properly, as well as if the bobbin is acting funny.. just rewind some more and stop trying to make it work!! HAHA! I have some friends with babies coming up, but sadly, I do not think I will be up to sewing with a newborn! I just cant believe how easy the burpies were!
So, as I said.. just wanted to post to say thanks for the tips/help I got!
