Would you buy or make?

Dh invited his niece to come be our nanny while I'm out of town and he reminded her to bring a dress so she could wear it to church. He was surprised and pleased when she wrote back the next day telling him she had made a skirt to bring along.

So . . . under those circumstances, would you have raided your stash for fabric and a pattern? Gone to the fabric store for the supplies? Or purchased ready-to-wear?

I asking if you needed a skirt for church and didn't have one would you:

Buy ready-to-wear
Go through your stash and patterns and whip something up
Go to the store and get things to make a skirt

I personally would probably just go and buy a ready made one. I've only made a skirt once and let's just say I never wore it. I stick to quilts, bags, and repairs.

But I guess for those who can whip up clothes in no time and they look better than store bought. I've seen some of the kid's outfits on here and they are GORGEOUS!!! But if I was one of those talented ladies, I might make my own. I wish I could make my own clothes.

Thinking I might try to find a pattern for pajama bottoms. Ones with a drawstring b/c I'm starting to run into some issues with stuff fitting.

I don't dare make my own clothes, so I would probably go and buy something for the occasion.
