Cammy made a great suggestion--let's make Isolette covers to donate to the local hospital.
If you'd like to participate, here is a link to a simple pattern: http://geocities.com/Heartland/Point...tepattern.html
From reading it I think it would be best to call your local hospital and make sure they can use something like this, and to get the exact measurements of the unit.
Post a picture and let's make this our Valentine's Day gift to a sweet baby.

I made it just under the (deadline) wire!
I ended up going very, very simple. As mentioned in the other thread on this subject, my local hospital said the Isolette cover did not need to be fitted, and in fact, they'd appreciate something bigger that they could give as a gift to families who didn't have anything for the baby. (When I think of the abundance with which I've been blessed, it makes me sad to think of a family without even a blanket for the new baby).
I bought 90" x 45" of two different patterns of flannel, making sure one was dark to put toward the inside of the Isolette to help block light. I cut each in half and sewed it to the other fabric, right sides together, leaving an opening on one side. I turned them, trimmed and clipped, then topstitched around the edges. It made two 45" x 45" blankets.

Yep, posting pictures like that is a BC privilege. LOL--NOT!!! I uploaded the picture to photobucket, then put the [IMG] link they provided here on the page. That puts it big in the post and allows non-upgraded members to see it. It also allows anyone with a really, really good monitor to see my name on the tag, LOL! Actually, I was going to attach my picture the regular way, but I was uploading some other pics and just decided to do this one that way.

I like that it can be used as a quilt to take home as well. I got my fabric at WalMart. I think each blanket cost about $6. I agree the prices at Hancock, Joann, etc, are eye-popping.

I saw the link in your blog katrack. Wish I had seen this post earlier. I might try and make one for our local Project linus. My son when he was our foster baby received MANY gorgeous quilts and blankets...infact dss gave our dd one when we had her too. Great idea!
I love the blankets!!!! way to go.
How did you do the tag katrack...I've been wanting tags for my clothes and blankets.

I didn't actually mean to show the tag, it was just there when I took the picture and I was too lazy to open the blanket another way.
