gmt--Where are you going in MD? I am near Annapolis and can give you the lowdown on the midwives and a DO in this area if you are interested.

We have a brokers open house tomorrow. The kids and I managed to get most everything done today, but it's so tiring. I have to say, my kids have been fantastic with the deep cleaning as they know its not good for the baby.

I am 5 days from finding out our baby's gender. I am so excited! It is so hard to go 4 weeks in between these appts. I have debated purchasing a doppler---are you all happy that you bought them?

    Tamilyn - Happy birthday

Smiley - congrats!!!! Shopping is the fun part I did indulge and get some of those baby legs yesterday, when you find good deals it is hard to pass up :-)

HopeInHim- I didn't know you were in MD, that is exactly the area we are going to be in, well sort of we will be about 15 min outside of Annapolis. I was looking at a couple of the Midwife practices there in Annapolis, but would so LOVE to hear your thoughts. Who are you going with? Last time I made it 24 of the 27 hours I was in labor w/o anything but then they broke my water and gave me pitocin at that point I was done, I had gone in w/the mindset if it came to that I was going for the epidural. I was so exhausted, I had been awake for over 36 hours at that point and they made me lay in bed every 30 min to be monitored so after 24 hours of in the bed, out of the bed I was exhausted and just wanted to rest. I kept thinking how in the world am I going to push out two babies. But now knowing what I do, I think I could have hung in there 3 more hours, it went so fast after they broke my water, you just never know how long it is going to take. Anyway, this time w/it only being one I am thinking I can labor at home for a bit longer which will make it so much better. I really don't want to have to go to the hospital until it is time KWIM :-)

Movement - I too have definitely been feeling consistent movement since about 18 weeks and it just keeps getting stronger and stronger, I felt my first flutters around 15 weeks, but it was so inconsistent. I love this part :-)

Doppler - Yes, totally worth it, I still use it. Not as much as I did early on, now that she is moving a lot, that gives me a ton of reassurance but I will use it until the end of my pregnancy, it is fun to listen to the heartbeat and just get the extra reassurance that everything is good :-)

Tiphie-Hope I'm not butting in too much with this one, but I understand where you're coming from. My husband's brother passed away in December this year. The babies will be born the same month as the one year anniversary and EVERYONE (in his family) is insisting that we use his name. My hubby and I don't think it's fair to do that to our children. These are not replacements of his brother by any means. We have heard the same thing "you've been trying for so long, Josh is probably the reason it worked this time." Although I don't get along with my MIL anyways I'm already sick of hearing the comparisons. Do what you and your hubby feel is right. I'm letting my hubby decide on the name use, but I'm pretty sure we're against using it.

Smiley-Yay for a girl!!! That is so exciting.

As for shopping-I can't wait. I did buy 2 neutral colored sleepers. But, I'm waiting until we find out the sexes until I buy more. My daughter (who's 6) is working with my mom and she is hosting the baby shower aka "I'm Going to be the Big Sissy Party" and everyone is already starting to look at stuff to buy, so I'm trying to resist buying it all myself.

Dana-Prayers for you and your children both born and unborn. You are an icredibly strong woman. I don't know how I could handle all that.

    Tamilynn-Happy Birthday!!!! (Belated)

Welcome back to those of you that were MIA.

Thank you jdavis. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with this issue. I had planned on using Nathaniel (Dustin's middle name) as Connor's middle name, but DH said NO WAY. He feels that Connor needs to be his own person, not a replacement for Dustin. He was the miracle(adopted), I was the mistake (my dad didn't want me) and my dad and step-mom made that VERY clear. *sigh* No matter what I do someone will be mad at me.

I haven't really bought much for Connor yet. Everyone tells me to wait until after my showers. I have been crocheting blankets and hats for him.

    Dana-still praying for your LOs.

I would use a midwife if they were allowed to practice as they were meant to. In TN they are just like MDs, they show up, catch the baby and leave. The L&D nurses are your main labor support. That makes me sad because they are streched so thin with patient loads, they can't be very supportive. (I'm a L&D/Post-partum nurse)

I'm not sure if I'm feeling movement yet. Sometimes I'll feel a twinge, then nothing for a day or two.

Doppler- I borrow the doppler in L&D triage every night I work. It makes me feel SO much better to hear his little heart. I wouldn't buy one though. The really good ones are $$$$$$.

Hi all so glad to hear everyone is doing well. Please let me know if I missed anything on the DD chart.

Doppler: I paid $36 on ebay - Sonoline B, DH and I use it about twice a week, he is a pro now and catches the hb as soon as he touches my pelvis with the wand. It saves my mind each time, I would definitely vouch for it, the baby doesn't seem to like it very much and always goes scurrying away. LOL we hunt it down though or start talking and the baby always comes back to the wand now.

Petra - I was overweight before pregnancy, had pretty bad m/s and after the first tri I was down 15 lbs, I have since gained 4 lbs. But I still have plenty of food aversions and occasional throw-ups.

Dana - You and your family are in my thoughts sweetie, stay strong!

Gmt - Hope the move goes smoothly for you!

Arianna - What an awesome gift, I wish I had your friend, anyway I am already addicted to the u/s have have been thirsty for one since the 12 wk NT scan, I am so tired of waiting for 20 wks already. I thought about getting a private scan, but they want me to come in at 18 so I thought pay $105 to come in just two weeks before the 20 wk insurance included one. I figure I can spend that $105 on some baby stuff later. But I may change my mind, I am gettin desperate!!
