2month appt and SHOTS!

Jack and Nathan had their two month appt today! They are getting big!

Jack- 11 lb 8 oz and 23 in
Nathan- 9lb 13 oz and 22.5 in

The dr was pleased with them and their progress and both got poked a few times.... I have been concerned about nate and his breathing/noises and he finally did the weird stuff at the dr. My dr wasnt all that concerned. He said that he is definately not sick (no RSV etc) and his lungs sound fine. He is sending him for a chest x ray tomorrow though. He thinks it might be allergies or a narrow trachea. i think it might be the trachea thing or a floppy epiglotis. Both are pretty much the "they will grow out of it" things, but i am still nervous and worried. He did say that depending on the xray we might have to go to a pediatric pulmonologist, and the WORST case senerio is surgey if his trachea is WAY too narrow. The thing is, he doesnt make the noise all the time, so he doesnt think it is really affecting him all that much. He is generally a happy little guy and is growing great. I guess we just have to wait and see.....

Sounds like your boys are doing good and getting SO big!!!
Crossing fingers for a good xray tomorrow; will you have to wait on the results or will you get the info right then and there? It would seem almost cruel to make a mommy wait for results!

Lucas had his 2 month appointment today and his shots. He weighs 11lbs and is 21inches... the dr said he's a little behind on the length side but ahead on the weight side.
He told me to give him more tummy time because his head is looking a little long and we want to avoid a special helmet... eek a helmet.
Then for his reflux he wants me to start him on more solids - not just adding the rice cereal to his bottles of EBM... real food?!?! Different cereals and even fruit. I don't know how I feel about that! The kid is only 9 weeks old, it seems just entirely way too early for that.
And he's upping the dosage on his reflux meds.

I sobbed when he got his shots. He just SCREAMED so loud it was horrible to see. Then we snuggled a bit and both sniffled until we stopped the tears.
I didn't think I'd cry when he got his shots - after everything he went through in the NICU I thought a few shots in the thigh aren't going to affect me. I'll just be the brave mommy who snuggles him after, right?? Pfft! I'm such a weenie!

Does it get better for the moms?!? lol

Kally- we will have to wait for the results probably a few days, but the more i talk to moms the more confident i am that he will be okay. As far as the shots go, in my experience it does NOT get easier.....my little guys cried so hard today i shed a tear. DD got her kindergarden shots last august and i felt so bad that i dropped a tear then too. ( although i was pg with twins lol!) It sounds like lucas is doing great! The dr mentioned the helmet to me for jack since one side of hiis head is a little flatter, but i am just gonna try to get him to lean to the other side for a while As far as the solids go, I had to start DD on solids at 10 weeks and she did awesome. In fact i was tempted to try the boys on cereal soon in attempts to get them to last a little longer between feedings, but i think i'll wait a while on that one. You should listen to your gut on this one. It sounds like Lucas is gaining weight fine, so he is getting some nutrition from the EBM but the solids might stay down better. Let me know what you decide and how it goes.

Hello ladies!

You both have good stats for 2 months old. We will be going for our check up next week.

Amy-Please keep us posted about the xray! Praying everything is fine.

Kall-I wish I could say it gets easier with the shots. I know what you mean about seeing them going through all that stuff at the NICU and my twins also had monthly Synergist shots for RSV and they would just whale. Poor things never had any fat on their little legs. I got to the point where I would either turn my head or close my eyes. ((hugs))
