Latest unemployment figures
wow
U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics November 06, 2009 In October, the unemployment rate rose to 10.2 percent, the highest since April 1983, and nonfarm payroll employment continued to decline (-190,000). The largest job losses over the month were in construction, manufacturing, and retail trade. Double digit unemployment highest in 26 years how's that change working for ya?

Construction and manufacturing are the lifeblood of a strong economy. The service economy is a houseof cards. If a country is not producing tangible goods, then its economy is reliant on the prosperity of countries that do.

Some are saying we haven't reached bottom yet. I am hoping for a good Christmas season.....at least some good news. But people still don't have faith and they are tightening up their belts more than ever.

But what about all those jobs created (or saved)
I thought we were out of the recession? oh that's right, jobs need to "Catch up" or at least catch up with the rhetoric

This is joust more evidence why we need budget busting "Healthcare Reform", and economy wrecking Cap and Trade Legislation.

We are hearing so much about the "Recovery" from the MSM that I am convinced it is a con-job. If there is such a recovery, then why are there NO signs of it on the street? No jobs, banks closing, record homes in foreclosure and not an end in sight.
How's that HOPENCHANGE workin' for ya?

The numbers are scary.

All I know is that WITHOUT the health care reform, dh and I are looking at continuing increases in expenses while our paychecks continue to be cut--whether in true cuts in salary and/or combinations with increases in our share of health insurance premiums. I am quite certain that if this health care passes senate and is signed, we will see a gigantic increase in what we're having to lay out for health care--to the point that we will end up deciding which of us is staying home, because it's too expensive for us to both be working. I guess that could help unemployment stats on the one hand--there would be an open job. On the other, enough of us two-income households do that, and there will be some daycare people LOOKING for work. We're not out the woods. And somehow the notion of government health care doesn't fit with my definition of getting us out. The private sector needs to be the one creating the jobs. Not Uncle Sam. And right now, the private sector doesn't have the funds for that. At this rate, it won't for a long time to come. |
