The dead shooter is named Malik Nadal Hasan.

The CounterTerrorist Unit said they have "no word" yet on whether this incident was terrorism-related.

I heard on the drive home that the dead shooter, whatever his name, was a mental health professional treating too much PTSD who had just been reassigned to Iraq and according to a relative was not happy about it.

According to MSNBC, Major Nidal Malik Hasan was an Army psychiatrist who practiced for 6 years at Walter Reed before being transferred to Fort Hood in July. He was due to deploy to Iraq later this month and wasn't happy about it.

Gee, I'm sure glad they don't ALL react this way when they're not happy about being deployed. I have no patience for someone like that in the first place. But for him to do something like this? I'm glad he's dead....just sorry he took so many with him.

The shooter is still alive....maybe he'll die during surgery and save the taxpayers the cost of a trial. Can we do a firing squad?

I wonder what he thought would happen after the military paid for his schooling? I guess he never expected to pay the piper? There were hints on Fox News that this guy had been reassigned to Hood after receiving a poor performace review. Yes, I too heard he was alive and expected to recover from his wounds.
