Credit to Obama

President Obama has only been in office for 9 months now. He promised a lot and consequently a lot was expected of him even in this short time. So what has he accomplished? What are his successes?

I'm going to bite...with the understanding that for some reason, I feel like I'm going to be trapped or attacked no matter what I say!

So, don't make fun of me but I was rootin for Hillary and I think she's doing a great job...but that is for another day or thread.

Obama ran a good race, promising hope and change. I have many family members on his bandwagon as if he were "the one" as many of you say. I am not one of those people...I am skeptical yet I voted for him because I don't like SP.
I read an article yesterday on cnn.com which asked if Obama was more like Carter or RR. It seems like it's too early to tell. RR went through many struggles and it took him two years to start making a difference. So I look at Obama and all I can say is that he is trying very hard to make live up to what he said he would do. I often see that many on this board complain that he is trying to cram things down people's throats. Really, he's in a no-win situation. If he does no move fast enough, then people ask "what has he accomplished"? If he moves too fast, he then is craming and forcing things down people's throats.

He is trying and he said from the beginning that it was going to get worse before it gets better. So I'm just going to wait & see what happens before I freak out. It just does not make sense to me to freak out at this time.

I just don't see how the fear, negativity and outrage can make things better. I think that the only thing that can bring our nation down is fear and that's what scares me more than anything!

OK...I'm gonna go answer the Bush question, go to bed & see in the morning how badly I've been beaten up!

But he needs to be able to take that criticism. Moving slowly and really weighing all the consequences of "change" is of paramount importance. None of the things he is trying to do are emergencies that need immediate resolution. Take a little time and get it right.

As far as what he gets credit for, I give him credit for inspiring hope in a large number of Americans. He really did pull people together and get people to the polls. He made people who didn't care before feel like they had a voice. And that's great.

He has since had the opportunity to prove to the REST of America that bringing us together is important, but he isn't doing as well in that task.

Crystal

I will give him credit for this. But like Crystal stated, he has alot of promises which he needs to accomplish.

I am hoping that with all the battles that he will realize that his vision for America really isn't the way to go and finally admit that it is indeed hurting America. I really don't have faith that he will man up to that.

I'm still thinking! I guess I should give him most credit for being such a smooth, slick, talker that he could bring so many people to believe in him w/out necessitating credentials to back any of it up. Talk does take talent but also reminds me of a few unsavory characters where eventually the followers get screwed royally. I'm more a believer in "walk the walk" than a "talk the talk" kind of person. I think BO definately deserves the Mr. Hollywood award for best personality. Seems like a really nice guy.
