Credit to Bush
OK, let's give bush some credit for what he did in his eight years. What are the top couple of things that you give George Bush credit for? What are his successes?

OK...I'll go
I think that Bush was a stud during 911. He loves his country and he is/was determined to protect this country. I like his mom I like his wife I think he was very human when he got interviewed and I think he was a straight shooter. (He did not beat around the bush--ha ha) He spoke from his heart. On a personal level, he increased the adoption tax credit from $5000.00 to $10, 000 per child. Since both our little cherubs are adopted, and prior to that, we had spent my inheritace on 3 failed IVF's, that was HUGE for us. We bought our first house when Clinton was sin Office and our second (current house) when Bush was in office. So, I'll try & think of more but it's past my bedtime!

For his strength during 911 and after. Whether or not you agree with HOW he handled it, you have to admire his resolve and unwavering dedication to his mission.

I like the entire Bush family. They feel genuinely down to earth when speaking & I like their no BS kind of talk. Bush might not have been the smoothest most proper speaker but it always felt like it came from his heart & he wasn't fooling around w/his words. I think Bush handled 911 very well & most importantly felt his 1st & top priority was to protect the USA & he just made me feel safer. I'm so happy he went into Iraq & finally brought Saddam down - for their people & the rest of the world. IMO it needed to be done & I will always view it as being his success.

I agree that 9/11 was by far his best moment. However one thing I liked about him was the fact that he didn't care what people thought he didn't need opinion polls to tell him how to act. He acted like a president, a leader.

I too love the Bush family. Barbara is the BOMB IMO. But like everyone else, I like the fact that he spoke and acted from the heart, you may not agree with him, but you know it was done genuinely from the heart. He didn't come across as "skeezy" and is likeable. He is able to laugh at himself which gives him credibility. He never pawned off excuses or responsibility. He stood firm. Again, there was some fiscal decisions I just didn't agree with him on and still don't. But all in all, I really liked him. I also liked the people who were around him. They put "Country" first. Some may not like what we did, but be there no doubt, it was about "Country" first.

As the others have said, I found him likable. He said what was on his mind and although not in the most eloquent way it always appeared sincere.
His contribution to the AIDS crisis in Africa is probably one of the most under-the-radar achievements of his presidency.

You know, I too loved her. After her dh left the white house she wrote a book and I was DEVASTATED to learn that she was/is pro-choice. But then I realized that just made me respect her all the more. IMO, she was the epitome of what a POTUS's wife (well any wife for that matter) should be. She "stood by her man" in every sense of the word keeping her opinions to herself. I'm sure she knew that if the liberal press caught wind of the fact that she was against her dh in ANY respect they would've found a way to damage him in some way or another.
