Previous year of GDP growth: +2.4%.

Previous year of job growth: +1.6%.

S&P 500: 1418.

Same statistics, most recently (after almost 3 years of Democrats controlling both houses of Congress):

Unemployment rate: 9.8%.

Previous year of GDP growth: -3.8%.

Previous year of job growth: -4.2%.

S&P 500: 1080.

I sure hope he's NOT suggesting that the unemployment in the U.S. right now is the fault of the Democrats in Congress. Surely he realizes that the unemployment is the direct result of last year's economic collapse (which was not caused by the Democrats in Congress).

As for what caused the collapse, we have debated that ad nauseam.

We've debated it, yes we have. I'm not quite certain I was ever convinced it was not the actions of congress.

yup...the Reps removed every plug in the dam wall and are decrying the Dems for not mopping fast enough. Absolutely love the analogy and it's so right too.

You've had a democratic congress for that last 9 years is spending money like it grows on trees and is printable at will. Borrowing against the future. Demanding that banks lend to ALL, "because it's fair" - regardless of their creditwortiness.

I'm really sorry that the current administration can'y mop up it's own party's mess..perhaps that's because he's trying to do it by now blasting giant craters in the dam vs. actually cleaning up.

2010 and 2012 elections will prove to show what the people of this country really think about his performance. You can say he never really had a chance.. and then when you get some true conservatives who understand economic responsibility in office.. and I mean TRUE FISCAL conservatives - not these "fake" republicans that have been pandering to the masses - you can go ahead and give him the credit for fixing it.. at least it will get fixed.
