If not America, then who?

A few of our fellow American FTers did not want America to be the richest and stringest nation in the world. Ok.

So the question I have now, and this is for everyone, not just US citizens, is this:

Considering that there will always be someone that will be the richest and strongest nation, who would you realistically like it to be if not America?

side note~ If your answer is that you want all nations to be equal, the you might as well wish for fairy dust and write a new letter to Santa Claus.

I think there will always be world powers and am proud to be a part of a country that so readily shares it's wealth through humanitarian aid on a regular and emergent basis as well as shares it's strength through strategic alliance. I also believe it is in the best interest of the world as a whole that those countries of wealth and strength guide those without to effectively manage the resources that they have to become stronger and wealthier as a benefit to their people.

No fairy dust or big giant elf wishes here. World peace should be the beacon - unfortunately, the reality is that I don't see it in my lifetime.

How do you want to measure wealth and strength? Some would say that China, Qatar or Luxembourg are the richest countries. And what kind of strength? Are you talking economic strength or military strength or some other strength?

Strongest: USA

Richest:
How about (cut and pasted frim the net) The Vatican City, the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church, is the world's smallest country. Located entirely within the city of Rome, Italy, the Vatican City (also known as the Holy See) is 0.2 square miles (0.44 km2) in area. the Vatican has a population of 770, none of whom are permanent residents.

All money and no permenant residents so hard to put together an army or build missiles. Besides, I don't think the pope approves of nuclear might being right.

Strongest=military might
Richest=per capita income in $US
And number of people above poverty line in $US

What we call poverty in America is wealth in Somalia. Comparisons need to be made with equal measurements.

Now see, I would have also said "No" to wanting my child to be the most handsome and smartest boy in the world. I would in fact have answered virtually the same way - that those were not even in my top 5. That what mattered most to me was that my children are honest, kind, loving, happy, and tuned in to their higher power.

SO, by that answer, does it automatically mean I want my boys to be ugly and dumb, and that I know "who should" be the handsomest and smartest boy in the world?

Of course! Ties right into why I could not answer such a black and white question with a black and white answer.
