I do however want America to be the noblest, most generous, most compassionate; the country with the most integrity, and the most respected country in the world.

My idea of respect-worthy has NOTHING to do with riches and strength. It is not how I assign value to a man or to a country.

Maybe this poll should be for Americans only. If I were Canadian, I would want Canada to be the richest and most powerful country in the world. But I'm not Canadian.

How can you be noble when you renege on your treaties and promises to your citizens and friends. How can you be generous when it is not YOUR money. How can you be compassionate when you force others to pay for things they oppose. How can you be respected when you waffle and not hold to your principles. Integrity? See above.

The nation that has won the most armed conflicts?

You could mean that the US has the healthiest, strongest, long lived population.

You could even mean in the one of the purest senses that weightlifting becomes a mandated exercise for all citizens?

You could mean that all other nations would cower and fear the US. In other words the US would be the international bully.

I suppose you could mean economically, the most healthy robust economy with exports far outweighing imports and 0% unemployment.

The entire nation of one mind politically and philosophically?

The least number of people going hungry or living below poverty levels?

I don't care if we are "strongest" or "richest" but I do want us to be strong and rich. I define strong as having the capability to protect our borders, protect our citizens, and be a powerful threat to those who wish to do harm in this world and to evil dictators. I define rich as having the capability to run our country without financial assistance from other countries, being able to fund important initiatives for the greater good, and keeping the opportunity of the American Dream alive where anyone has the opportunity open to them to better their life.

As far as NL's additions, I do not care if we are respected as long as we are following the path we feel is right. I do want to be generous - but not at the expense of our own citizens (ie sending billions and billions of dollars overseas when we need it here) and I do want to be compassionate to those being oppressed - but not to those who would do us harm had they the chance.

And integrity? I guess that means different things to different people. To me it means standing firm in your beliefs, being honest and true, doing what you say and saying what you mean, and being who you are. We are Americans and that should be something to be proud of, not to apologize for.

so which countries do you feel now fit that description?? I know Americans have been more than generous and compassionate whenever disaster strikes, but I know that kind of crap does not count in some peep's eyes.
