Another stimulus try next week?

Piecemeal second stimulus? - Victoria McGrane - POLITICO.com

Piecemeal second stimulus?

Democrats and Republicans may both say they’re opposed to a second stimulus, but bit by bit they may be building one anyway.

The latest push for a stimulus sliver will come next week, as Democrats try again to get Republicans to agree to a bill extending jobless benefits.

On top of that, Georgia Republican Johnny Isakson, a former real estate agent, plans to introduce an amendment to extend and expand the $8,000 first-time homebuyer’s tax credit that was part of the $787 billion stimulus package. The credit is set to expire Dec. 1.

Extending the tax credit has significant bipartisan support, at least in its existing form. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Republican Sen. John Ensign both back an extension, which is unsurprising given how hard the recession and housing bust have hit their home state of Nevada. The White House says it is considering the housing credit, along with other options, as it tries to battle the ever-rising unemployment rate.

There’s going to be potentially some transition process. I can envision a decade out or 15 years out or 20 years out where we’ve got a much more portable system. (2007) Barack Obama

Just another joke on the American People. Nothing more.

Want a big stimulus? Slash taxes and regulations; Trim the size of government; Abolish the Dept. of Education and the Dept. of Energy; Open up a little bit of the country to drilling for oil. Any ONE of these would eliminate the recession.

Hey, I just did enough to win a Nobel Prize!

How can we do this with the dollar dumping? From whom will we be borrowing from? Aren't we already making the Chinese nervous?
