A sign of things ahead?

Last night the largest city (Albuquerque) which is heavily liberal, in my blue state elected a Republican as it's new Mayor. Could the prediction of what 2010 will bring have already begun?

I don't think so. The two Democrats running most likely split their party's vote, leaving the Republican to win.

But, I could be wrong. I lived in ABQ six years and I still don't understand that city's politics.

That could be. However, the absentee ballots more than doubled what they were in 2005 so I'm thinking people wanted their voices heard. ABQ has had a Dem mayor for the past 12 years at least. It could have been a shoe in......but I have a feeling that the tide is possibly turning.

should add......this state went all blue last November. This is the first chance that anyone has to make a change. Alrighty.......I'm off for the day. Heading to UT!!!

Nope, the political party of local mayorships are not an indicator of any change. As you know Utah is extremely Red. Have you seen the political affiliation of the last couple of Mayors? All clearly announced as Democratic, since 1976.

The last Rassy poll I saw has reps leading in the generic ballot also...there is a storm a brewin and some folks are reacting..denying it won't change the tide of the storm

I just have to laugh at the denials. Yes it's turning MB...and I think many believe that if they keep repeating that it's not, that it won't. Good luck with that is all I gotta say!
