Did Obama really say this?

"We are God's partner in matters of life and death"

I heard bits and pieces today on the radio..I admit to working insane hours lately and not being able to keep up with the news, but did not some here razz Bush for stating once that he speaks with God?? ( something I myself do several times a day in quite contemplative prayer)

So did he say those words, and how is equating one's self with Goid or putting oneself on par with God not being lambasted by the left? YOU know if Bush had said those words, they left would have been all over it like white on rice or stink on poo

Yes, he said it last week in a phone call with rabbis. I believe it was part of his push to get healthcare by calling on clergy, saying we have a moral imperative to pass healthcare.

'We are God's partners in matters of life and death'

A reader points out that President Obama's call with the rabbis today — as recorded in Rabbi Jack Moline's and other clerics' Twitter feeds — freights health care reform with a great deal of religious meaning, and veers into the blend of policy and faith that outraged liberals in the last administration.

"We are God's partners in matters of life and death," Obama said, according to Moline (paging Sarah Palin...), quoting from the Rosh Hashanah prayer that says that in the holiday period, it is decided "who shall live and who shall die."

The president ended the call by wishing the rabbis "shanah tovah," or happy new year — in reference to the High Holidays a month from now.

Here is one person's take on the call:

I thought that was above his pay grade?

He's an amoral pragmatist. Perfect leader for the New Socialist Democratic Party!
