Fake Flyer Tells VA Dems To Vote On Nov. 5th
Posted by Brian Montopoli| 94

Virginia's State Board Of Elections has released a "rumor buster" document telling voters to disregard a flyer claiming that Democrats should vote on November 5th.

"A fake flyer claiming it is from the State Board of Elections has been circulating, stating that Republican Party supporters shall vote on November 4 and Democratic Party supporters shall vote on November 5," the document states. "This information is false."

Election Day, of course, is November 4th for all voters.

Director of Communications Susan S. Pollard told Horserace that the source of the fliers is presently unknown, though the police are looking into it. She said it was distributed in predominantly African American areas, notably "Virginia Beach, Hampton Roads and Norfolk."

Click the link to see a copy of the flyer.

Nasty and obviously desperate. Is there no early voting in Va to lighten the election day voting lines? Are votes still considred private and secret? Turning up on a designated day sort of destroys that privacy. While many people will see it for what it's worth, and that is simply a Republican Hail Mary. But if just one voter loses their chance to cast a vote becuse perhaps they don't have a tv or don't carry the newspaper, I'd say the perpetrator needs to be left out on a stock for all to see...prior to sentencing that is.

Oh give me a break. things like this happen all the time. Why is this news to you all?? You don't think liberals do it??? BAWHAAAAAAA! And to say that "REPUBLICANS" do this as a Hail Mary? What makes you think the VA RNC had anything to do with this?? What proof do you have????

We have absentee voting here in VA. And I believe that window closed on Tuesday for mail in. And in person the last day is Saturday.

Apparently the authorities are not thinking its so funny. Down play it all you want, it's reeks of a desperate, illegal act from some desperately stupid people. Just so happens those particular people are Republicans.

Crap like this happens on both sides of the aisle. Frankly, if someone was dumb enough to fall for something like this, do we really need them voting to elect the next POTUS (on EITHER side). We all know the FINAL day for voting is the 4th.....that's not to forget absentee ballots and EARLY voting. If someone is really that misinformed and so easily duped, then that would go for other things too.

That's a rather arrogant outlook. You are stating that IQ is a qualifier for the right to vote? For instance, I know lots of older people caught in scams because they believed what they read with official looking letterhead. You are saying they deserve to lose their vote?

Go ahead and ACORN-IZE it all you want. It is done by proponents on both sides.....however to think that this is a concerted effort on the RNC and McCain campaign is just simply naive and low.

Still waiting for those articles indicating the number of multiple VOTES cast, to actually materialize.

This flier plays not with registrations, but VOTES. Playing with actual VOTES seems to be the tactic here, as was destroying one party's registrations (disallowing people to VOTE) and dumping tens of thousand of registrations again, taking away the ability to VOTE.

There is no one on this board that has said that it was a concerted effort from any particular candidate or from a the RNC. However, it's your own interpretation coming into play when you think anyone has placed this stunt onto the RNC or McCain.

No one here is being naive or low.

I've said it before that it would be great if only well informed people were the ones voting, rather than ignorantly throwing votes around. That goes for any and all sides. Like my BIL.....he says that Obama rocks and McCain sucks, but cannot tell you why for either. Maybe that doesn't bother you because of where his vote happens to fall but it bothers me and it would bother me if his opinions were reversed. If he makes it to the voting booths and makes his vote, it will be done in ignorance and I don't think that's a good thing. He got sucked up in the Obama wave and he can't even tell you why. One would hope before they (those who received flyers) just believe anything they read, whether it be these flyers or scam mail that they would ask around and look into the matter further than blindly following doing what a paper tells them to do. It shows bad judgment to do otherwise.
