"Screwed" doesn't even come close to what we're going to be when this is over.

At least this -- http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive...30082cow1.html -- is good for a laugh.

Sigh.

I don't get the problem.

NL...there is a program in Columbus (was it?) Where people can register to vote and actually vote at the same time. Students interviewed, talk about the convenience. THEN they went on to talk about people who are homeless and don't know from one day to the next where they may live, so registering and being able to vote at the same time...ALLOWS them to vote, because for one day they do have an address, even it's the homeless shelter address.

I personally do think it's a good thing to find ways for people to be able vote. They were allowing drivers to find people (in particular the media piece focused on those without transportation and the homeless) to vote and would give them a ride to the place where they can exercise their right to vote.

I think what is maybe torquing Tracy and Hopeful, is that the interviewer (who looked like a college student, so it's probably not a main stream media piece...although I could be wrong on this) is that the homeless people they were interviewing were all wanting to vote Obama. I don't for one moment think all those who would be registering and voting will all be for Obama.

This registration/voting place was available to anyone but the piece focused on how it helps those who many not normally have the ability to exercise their right to vote.

They expected 1000 people to be able to take advantage of the process.

My biggest concern is: are these "homeless" people really informed and knowledgeable about the candidate's positions. If they truly have the information to make an informed vote, I am all for it. Vote, vote, vote, let your voices be heard.

Well, is Joe sixpack on the other thread really informed and knowledgeable about the candidates' positions?

I have to say that if the ones crying foul on this were liberals, we would be accused of being uber elitist.

Well, hate to say it, but I suspect that there are a lot of people in homes who should be informed but are not! Some staggering number of Americans, for example, STILL think that Obama is a Muslim.

There is no intelligence/competency test to be able to vote. So, they can vote, vote, vote!

So many people use the negative ads to educate themselves on their positions. Where do we draw the line? We can't test people before voting. We the people of the United States... All legal adults have the right to vote, no matter their education or economic level.

There was a program in our area where college students where hitting the streets to register the homeless, giving them the choice to register for any party. The most important acheivement was to educate the people of their rights. Many didn't know that they could vote, because they didn't have a permenant home.
