Obama Ads....here we go!

Well he hasn't stepped foot in the Democratic convention yet and we here in VA are innundated with his commercials already. DH and I were watching over the weekend....with ALOT of Military friends and family. And all of us noticed something VERY noticeable. In Obama's ads....you did not see ONE African American or other ethnicity represented at all. Everyone was WHITE and OLD. So what is up with this?? I think it pretty presumptious of him and teetering on the side of offensive.

But hey! Let him keep running them. Virginians will notice this eventually and it will come back and bite him!

So why would he choose to have white-only ads in Virginia, but not in other places? We already know that he stacks the audiences for the cameras, so he obviously has a good reason to exclude blacks in his Virginia ads.

I'm not convinced he is airing only "white only" ads in Virginia! On what basis are you saying this? You are not in Virginia, are you? Are you monitoring all Obama ads in the country?

I am commenting on the ads the Julester saw, obviously. Are you denying that his campaign "stacks" the audiences that are seen in his ads?

With all due respect to Julester, unless she is monitoring every single ad aired in Virginia and comparing that to every single ad aired across the country, I don't think we can draw any legitimitate conclusions about the people featured in Obama's ads.

As for "creating" audiences, both candidates do it.

With all due respect to Julester, she was commenting on the ads that she saw. If you want to show us evidence of McCain stacking his audience and such, then let's see it. Making the blanket statement that they all do it without showing the evidence, when there is evidence that your candidate is doing it, appears to me to be an attempt merely give your candidate a pass. Obama has been caught removing Muslim women from his shots, has McCain been caught doing it too?

Yes, she was. And YOU were commenting on the ads she saw and then drawing the conclusion that Obama is airing "white only ads in Virginia, but not in other places."

Sorry, Julester. You haven't seen every. single. ad. ever. aired. So your conclusion is most obviously wrong. Silly!

Seriously, it's a valid question. We know he stacks audiences, and we know there are ads airing in Virginia that don't show any minorities. For conversation's sake, let's assume it's true. With that assumption, I'd love to see a real discussion about it. Is he showing his arrogance? Is it just an oversight? Does he need to fire the PR guy who came up with these commericials? Do you predict the commercials will stop airing or is this totally a non-issue?

I think it's yet another "mistake" on the part of his campaign. They try so hard to target their audience, and end up insulting them.
