Berkeley has a sudden change of heart

This is so predictable. As others here had called for, the threat of losing federal monies has the ol' city council in Berkeley singing a different tune now.

Of course the idiots couldn't even give quotes to the paper without making idiots of themselves...one of the council members apparently said

"Berkeley is supposed to celebrate diversity and free speech and we welcome homeless people here. We welcome illegal immigrants. We give them sanctuary. We should welcome the Marines. I mean they're basically dedicating their lives to protect their country."

So since homeless people and illegal immigrants are okay, we can begrudgingly welcome the Marines as well since ya know...they are fighting for our country. Gee thanks that just so magnanimous of you!

I suggest we give Berkeley their 30 pieces of silver for their capitulation.

So if I say something like: "NanceLee, I think you are a sanctimonious 5th Ave. four-flusher that eats live puppies, hates the poor and probably builds atom bombs in your basement," then free speech means there should be no recriminations for me? If I said that, then I guess Dave couldn't censor me, because he would be violating my freedom of speech. This woman is obviously delusional. Free Speech means we can sy what we want, but there are recriminations for what we say. I'm perfectly free to spout my diatribe against NanceLee, but Dave and Ronen and NanceLee and all of the rest of you have every right to come down on me like a ton of bricks, ride out of our cyber town on a rail, and ban me from FT forever.

Likewise the kooks at Codepink have the freedom to spout their brainless and misinformed nonsense, but the rest of the country have every right to go after them and their supporters all we want.

Obviously Xanne Joi of Code Pink is egocentricly clueless.

I used you because your post was just previous, and I knew you would know it was all in fun and that I really didn't think that way about you . . . except for the four-flusher thing. I need to find out what a four flusher is . . . you might be one! I might be one!

Four Flusher is a pejorative term for a person who makes empty boasts or who continually lies.

The term four flushing traces its origins to the game of Poker during the 19th Century. Four flushing originally referred to a person who would misrepresent that they had a flush - a poker hand comprised of five cards all of one suit (hearts, spades, clubs or diamonds) - when they only had four cards of one suit.[1]

Chevy Chase used the term "four flushing!" in the 1989 film National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. The term is also used by Pooter-the-Clown, actor Mike Starr, in another film Uncle Buck of the same release year. The phrase is also used in the 1967 Walt Disney version of the Jungle Book. Bagheera the panther calls Baloo the bear a four flusher. In the 1926 silent film, "The Show Off", the term "four flusher" is used by Louise Brooks to describe her next door neighbor's son-in-law.

Doesn't look like NanceLee is a four flusher. I probably used to be one, but not anymore.

With regards to Berkeley....I say to heck with them and take my Fed $$ with them. They should have thought about the consequences anyway. Heck....don't want them to think they are hypocrites now do we???
