700 Club

Ok, tell me if you think this is weird.

I'm a teacher in a public school. The 700 Club is going to come to my school and interview some teachers and students. Does this make sense to anyone? I dont see why the 700 Club would want to come to a public school and interview people. I know that one of the teachers they are going to talk to is very religious. I'm afraid they will make my wonderful school look bad. What do you think? Is there a conflict of interest here???

I'm not a fan of Pat Robertson or the 700 Club, so I wonder if I'm just being paranoid.

I would be curious too. The first thing that came to my mind is creationism vs. science?

My mind went the same place as NR's... .I was thinking they are going to discuss Intellegent design in schools vs science or something like that.

I think I would want more info on what the strory is about, especially if they are interviewing kids, will their parents know?

while I think the man is Wack, if he and the TV crew have followed the visitors procedures adn obtained permission from the principal, I am not sure they can be denied access...Otherwise, no religious groups should be allowed. I remember a rabbi coming to our fourth grade class to talk about Hanaukah. Unless the school is willing to ban all such visits, he should be allowed to go..Do I think he has anything worth saying ?? No but he has a right to go there and say it

When I was teaching, the teachers were not allowed to talk to the media. All such requests were to be deferred to the principal or to the district. I wonder if your school also has such a policy.

The 700 Club must of received permission from the city cause there are regulations preventing teachers from speaking to the media. And the students' parents must sign a release, as do any teacher being taped. I dont plan to be on tape. I cant imagine anything I can say to him except insults and that will make our school look bad. The principal said that she'll be very cautious talking to Pat cause of the separation of church and state. I think she is a little worried that he is going to try to get her to say something bad. But she is a very smart woman, so I think she can handle him. Well, at least it will be interesting to see what happens.

That is so weird. Why pick your school, I wonder? Did a student or teacher write to Pat and crew to come interview?

Best advice I can give is stay off camera! There is no way they will show anything on the 700 Club news other then what promotes their agenda. I know some would argue that all media is like that - but the 700 club doesn't even pretend otherwise.
