Have Your Opinions Changed AS You Age?

I was wondering about beliefs and values and was wondering if anyone else has had changes in how they view things as they have aged and matured.

As an example, when I was a teenager I was very active in y Catholic youth group. this included picketing abortion clinics. When I grew up and went to college, I realized that my views were not everyone elses. I met woman that had had abortions and in no way felt they were murderers. I decided that force feeding my personal beliefs onto someone else just wasn't right.

So, what sort of view of yours have changed over the years or has everything stayed the same?

BTW--I'm not debating the abortion issue, just using that as my example.

yes, I'm becoming a lot more conservative as I age. I don't know if it is age related or the fact that I'm a parent now.

Good question... I am finding that as I age, I am becoming more Liberal
Plus.. seeing the other side of things I am realizing that, things are not always black and white. There are a lot of gray areas as well.

OH now..... You all just don't have a celebration yet as, I am still a GWB supporter!

Mellissea, funny you should mention the black/white vs shades of grey thing. Just this morning I was talking to Cole about that. He was telling me about a boy who used to be "in the group" but now seems to have other friends. Cole was saying because of that, he didn't "like" Philip much anymore.

I told him there was a lot of room between being "in the group" and being an enemy - a lot of space to define a new relationship. I told him that while little kids need clear rules about behavior, safety, etc. and so start to think in absolute terms, as one grows older one learns that there is a lot more grey than there is pure black and white.

I know my views on a number of issues, both volatile and mundane, have changed with years, exposure and experience.

But yes, in my OLD AGE I have definitely become more conservative and more especially since becoming a parent. I am definitely in a more "protective" mode!

On some fronts I have changed. I have become a Christian, so my views changed a lot due to that.

I have become WAY more conservative, and as an adult I understand WHY I feel the way I do on issues.

As for some things have stayed the same...I have always believed abortion was murder, and that has not changed, and going through IF has just strenghthened my view on the subject.

When I gradauted from college I had $12.87 to my name...I was a carefree" let's help everyone who needs it because they have been down trodden "type of gal..Now that I have busted my hump for over 23 years (not counting the) 6 years prior to that spent working my way through college) I have come to the far far far far right on many social and fianancial issues....I was always liberal on my views on women's right to a chocie and gay rights but social and financial stuff..no way..conservative all THE WAY ( and proud of it) I made it with **** near next to nothing and so can most others...the difference is desire to succeed AND the ability to delay gratification
