Has anyone heard of shared risk for IVF treatment?

I came across this information while researching our options. I was wondering if anyone here has ever used it, and if so was it like it sounds?

Yep! My REs office offers Shared Risk and a 3for2 program.

Shared Risk- http://www.infertilitysolutions.com/IVFrefund.html

3for2 program- http://www.infertilitysolutions.com/Multicycle.html

We're doing the 3 for 2 program.

Both of those options are way better than what I have found here in Texas. Thanks for sharing! I will have to continue to look around

My IVF clinic offers a shared risk program. You can now get up to 6 IVF cycles for a set fee and get a refund if you don't get a live birth. We are not using it, because the cost is equivalent to two full IVF cycles, and because we are using an egg donor (for several reasons), we don't think we will need more than two, and hope to be able to get away with one IVF and FETs from that IVF. Even if we have to pay for a second IVF cycle, we won't have lost money. It's only when we go into a third IVF that the cost of paying for each becomes greater than the shared risk. Of course, we don't get a full refund if we don't have a live birth, but picked a clinic with a high success rate, so we are hoping for the best. We are taking the chance on paying less by paying as we go.

But, the clinic says that most people use the shared risk program, so it is popular. You need to think about how high your chances of needing multiple IVF cycles is and sit down seriously with those numbers and run scenarios. Of course, it is all a guess, but that way, you get a better handle on the monetary choice you are taking by choosing the program. Oh, by the way - when I was talking to the clinic financial counselor she made an interesting remark in passing that most couples don't get to 6 IVF cycles - most give up before that if they don't get pregnant because of the emotional strain. So, they can advertise 6 cycles without worrying that they'll have to put out the money/resources for it because almost no one uses that many!

It can be a good program - you just have to make sure it is right for your situation and risk tolerance (the guarantee of getting the money back if not successful vs possibly paying more than you need to.)
