New cry..... could thing be colic?

My DD is 3 months. This week she has started to cry, uncontollably for about 30 minutes and it is a screeching (like she is in pain) almost losing her breathe. My niece and nephews were in town last week, it start the day after they left. I thought it was maybe becuase she wasn't getting enough attnetion (everyone held he so much when she was here), then(after day 3) I thought maybe she was sick, but no temp.

It is so much worse than crying, it is screeching.

Any thoughts?

Also, it is not gas, I give her gas stuff and this has not been working.

My mom doesn't remember - I thought of that - she is drooling sooooo much, maybe I will get some teething rings, she seems to want to put everything in her mouth right now.

My mom can't remember me either. Just remembers my sister, the first of four. I'm the baby, so by the time I came around everything was old news.

Watched the shuttle go over tonight. Brought back memories of my dad as we watched it go over about 10-15 years ago while we sat on a porch on Cape Cod ... waved at him ...

Colicky crying usually ends at 3 mos. It would be unusual for it to begin at that age. I would guess teething as well.

I would tend to agree with the last post. KS most definitely had the colic screech but it ended just before 3mos of age. She did however remember it when she later cried for other reasons and this went on for a few mos. The pain cry is also very characteristic and happens whenever they get themselves hurt which may not be happening much yet for a 3mo. But maybe the cry is coming from within, say from her teeth, or an ear infection. Has she had a cold recently? Every time KS got colds, it developed into an ear infection and this can be quite painful. Can you make a same day drs appt and get her checked out? Dont worry about being seen as a paranoid new mom - that is the nurses and the peds job!

Take care,
Kate

Just want to add that it may be an ear infection...how is her eating? Does she suck for a minute or two and then cry? Also, is it worse when she is laying flat?

My DS started crying uncontrollably when he was 3 weeks old. It came on suddenly, he didn't eat well and woudl cry whenever we put him down on his back to bed...sure enough, he had double ear infections.

Good luck.

Yes - the cry has gotten better, but she is still cranky. I think that it may be teething, which is soooo early, but she seems to be hitting all her physical milsteones super early. I got a teething stick and she love it.

Thanks everyone!!
