Just sharing some good news

I'm bursting at the seems to "share" this and I know I'm "safe" to do so on here

We've been members at a church (our 1st church home!) for 5 years. However, 4 years ago we moved to another town. Our church was at least a 20 minute drive on a good weather day. We lost our pastor (he passed away) almost 2 years ago, whom we were VERY close with. We had an interim pastor in his place, and then a permanent one.

We had a heavy heart and were truly trying to give these new pastor's a chance. We know everyone is different and that things wouldn't be the same. However the permanent pastor didn't seem very approachable nor as friendly to the church members. Plus, his sermons didn't relate to our "everyday" lives so was sooooooo hard to get the true meaning of each sermon. Again, we lived far away and found more and more excuses to NOT go The weather, too tired, etc.

Fast forward to a Spring of this year...I began going to a local church (same denomination) to check it out. Now that the kids are in 1st grade, I really felt it was important to find a local church where they can be involved on a more regular basis. Especially after school activities, etc.

Then shortly after, we all began attending this new church. DH & I took the "new member" class for 8 weeks and really enjoyed it. The pastor led the class and we learned sooooo much! He's very friendly and the church has many child friendly activities to participate in.

OK....now to the exciting news.....we became "official" members at that church at this morning's service It was just DH & I up front today, confirming our faith, etc. A very moving experience, to say the least. After the service, we stayed to shake hands with the congregation and meet everyone. We're feeling truly blessed and loved today

If you've read this far, thank you I think we've just found our true faith again and have been given that refreshing feeling to keep learning. We're taking a Sunday School class prior to the church service. So fun! Something we've never done. And I like how DH & I are together in class as well. Brings us closer to each other and God.

Thanks

Don't you just love it when you find a "home" for your family. We still drive 20 minutes, though there is a church 5 blocks from our house that is the same denomination. But our church has been our home in so many ways for so long I just love being there. Enjoy your new "home", Congratulations.

Hey thats great news!!!! I can't seem to get DH to go to church with me. I go just about every Sunday to a church that I've been a member of for about 4 yrs now and then some Sundays I go to the church my dad pastors. DH, however, grew up believing just alittle different then I did so its hard to get him to go with me. He hasn't even been to his church since we got married. We got married there since I didn't have a church yet. I think thats great that DH likes to go with you, I wish I could have the same. Congrats hun!!

Erin
