Those of you that do a short term afternoon boost of an RX or those that have done it, how do you do it? Dr. said to have DS take the ER Ritalin in the early am to get him through school. (this is usually taken at 6:30 am) Then if needed he could take the short term mehtylphenidate in the afternoon but to do it before 3 pm. School nurse gave him the short term at 2:15 or 2:30 and DS was not asleep till 10:30. Wondering if we can do the dose at 1:30 pm? That would only be 7 hours from the time of the ER Ritalin? Do you need to wait a full 8 hours? It was so long ago that the Dr. told us about "boosting" that I don't remember. Thanks if you have done this. DS just needs a little extra focusing to get through the school projects at the end of the year! Hoping this will help at homework time at home.

We do give DD another dose of the short acting ritalin in the after noon. She takes 10 mg of the short acting ritlan at 7 am, 11:30 am and then if needed we do a third dose around 3:30 or so. there are times that it keeps her up, but there is no real way around it. (we have tried that longer acting meds but the LA or ER dosing gives her migraines).
Honestly I would not see there being an issue giving it to him at 1:30 or so in the afternoon.3 IVF's and 1 FET negative (

DS takes Focalin XR at about 7:00 AM and then takes a smaller dose of the regular Focalin at about 1:30 PM. He goes to the nurse's office on the way back from lunch/recess. My doc said to make sure the second dose is taken prior to 2:00 and it wouldn't be a problem for sleeping at night. We haven't had any issues.

Hmmm... the past few days he has been given the methylphenidate at 2:00 ish by the school nurse and it's been like 2:15 or 2:30. His teacher is very pregnant and I don't know if she was reminding him and 1 day DS just forgot to go and another time he didn't have "tutorial" or "study hall" and there was a club meeting. I guess we are at the mercy of others to make sure he takes it so it's not consistent. DS was staying up till 10:30 at night.
I think he really needs that afternoon does we'd have to have him take no later than 1:30 pm so he'd have to leave in the middle of PFA or world languages or science since those rotate in the afternoons. I think it has helped him get through these 2 big projects but we are gonna back off the afternoon doses.MAV Mom to
