aaron had his meds changed

he had been on concerta for almost a year and he never would eat much for lunch or dinner. we just switched his meds to vyvanese and he has been doing great. he was in a study at NIH and they suggested to let his doctor know to try switching his meds. so now he does not get ritalin in the late afternoon to tide him over until early evening. the vyvanese has been working great, he has an appetite and it is lasting from morning till around 8pm at night. he will also have an iep in place at school next year.

Glad to hear Aaron is doing good on the new meds. We switched Matthew from Adderall to Vyvance 6 months ago. I have noticed that his appetite at lunch time seems better. Behavior wise he seems pretty good when the meds are working. Our biggest challenge is in the morning before he takes his meds.

Good to hear from you. Don't get to hear much since you went back to work.

Glad it's working out. DS is still on Focalin and it's seems to be working. WE are using the short burst Focalin (dhyphenad... something) in the early afternoon when he needs it so it's only occasional for that.

Glad to hear he's got a better appetite. Maggie's been on Methylin for a couple months now. She just got bumped to 3x's day a month ago. Since then, her appetite has really decreased. When it all wears off in the evening, she's ravenous. And since she's eating a lot at bedtime, it's difficult to get her to eat any breakfast prior to taking her Rx.
I took an 8 week parenting course for ADHD and another one of the parents said her son was on Vyvanse as well. I was wondering about asking her dr. to switch her. We just have to get her used to taking pills.

With Vyvance in comes in a capsule that we open up and put in with some yogurt. The big thing is that we need to put about 2 TBLS of yogurt in a small dish because sometimes he doesn't eat all of the yogurt. I then very carefully fold it into the yogurt so we don't get any meds on the sides of the dish. Our dr also said to disolve the powder in water but we found that it left a lot of residue on the sides of the glass and my son hated the taste.

I sure wish he would just learn to swallow that pill.

Wow, Sherry, lucky you! How was it? I'd love to hear more about it. As far as I know, there is nothing offered like that around here. I'm going to look into it though now that I know that such a think exists!
