Had out neuro eval today.

DS has ADHD but in the neuro's words also gives a new meaming to the word oppositional and has a touch of anxiety thrown in. The ADHD and anxiety are no surprise but the oppositional disorder took me back a little. I have thought about it before but pushed it out of my mind. I lost it in the apt and ds saw me cry for the 1st time. It was mostly out of a sence of relief that someone finally saw what I did and I am not imagining it and it is not my fault. We have a script for Concerta and I will fill it tomorrow. I also need to look for a pediatric psyciatrist as this doc didn't really fell that he was qualified to deal with all of DS's issues. He said he was a tough case. Once DS calmed down and was comfortable with the doc he was also able to see what a sweet, adorable boy he is as well.

Don't worry about the crying....We ALL have done it and like you said it was just out of relief, more than anything...Good day for you both!!!

Another FT'er, Emmi, has a DS, Joey, who has the ODD. You might want to contact her her. I didn't know anything about it till she posted one day how she found out. This is her blog. It might help you. (((HUGS))

Thanks, Mac :-). I did read Emmi's blog and all I can say is WOW! I waited so long to seek help because everyone kept telling me he wasn't that bad. It is such a relief to know that there are others out there who have gone through the same thing and we feel the same isolation because our children save the behavior for home. I guess it's a good thing that DS started doing some of the same things at school this year so we finally felt we needed help. I found a psych and I have out of netork coverage so that is good. I didn't call yet but will tomorrow (I had to deal with the insurace co today because I had an accident on Friday afternoon, not a big one, no one was hurt but still upsetting, and call the school to let them know he was on a new med so that took up my quota of non working time).

I really think that the meds are helping. He seems to have alot more self control and is much less impulsive IMO. I e-mailed his teacher asking for her feedback as well so hopefully she will see the same things because at this point I am not sure if it is in my head or not. I am posting in my blog about the day to day things that I see if you are interested. I like comments :-).

Sorry if I am rambling, I am sitting next to DD in the tub right now and she is wild, lol.

Well, the meds seemed to help when we were home over the long weekend but the last few days back at school have been rough. I'm still waiting for feedback from his teacher.
