I know I asked to join here and then have been sporadic since, I apologize. Life has been hectic to say the least. Mom has finished her chemo and radiation and will have her follow up MRI on the 9th. She will likely have to continue the chemo in bursts for the rest of her life. I must admit, I am so nervous about this MRI it will be the test that tells us if it all worked, if my Mom has been given a temporary reprieve. While she was having her treatment it was sort of like we pushed all possibilities of it not working out of our minds, it was working and she was working to beat it. Now that it is finished I am just getting all stressed again. I just want her to be ok. Sorry for the rambling post but I knew you guys would understand.

01-03-2009, 03:41 AM #2Everything you have been feeling is quite normal. Being diagnosed with cancer (either you or a loved one) is very traumatic. You're scared and don't know what to expect. Then things seem better once treatments start. You seem more in control and actually doing something positive in fighting the cancer. But it's scary when chemo is done. The 'chemo life-line' isn't there anymore. Your mom getting through the chemo and radiation is a mile-stone though. Hopefully you will have good news on the 9th. Then you can celebrate.

We always get nervous before the scans. I know my mom gets really nervous and worried, I think its normal. I hope it brings you good news.

Shawny said it so well. Scans, particularly those done right after treatment, are so nerve-wracking. (((HUGS))) Know that we are here if you need somewhere to vent, and please let us know hwo things go on the 9th.

Ditto to the pre-scan nervousness. Hang in there. Tell us how it goes, if you have time to post.

Ugh, my Mom just found out today that she won't be able to get the results until after the weekend. We were all set to hear tomorrow and we won't hear until Mon! If it was bad they wouldn't make her wait right?

Unfortunately....that is all too common. It's stressful and scary to have to wait for results. Keeping her and you in my prayers for good results!

Mom got her results this morning. It isn't all gone but alot of it is. So the doctor was happy. She will continue the chemo pill in boosts for maybe the rest of her life. 5 days a month and the doctor is checking if he insurance will cover another kind of chemo that will cut off the blood supply to the cancer. It would be infusion rather than a pill and she would do that twice a month. The doctor said it was a good result. I don't know what this means for her prognosis but I hope that I have her around for years to come.
