I also had Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and an autoSCT. It put me into a menopausal state, that I'm assuming is permanent, since my cycles have been absent or irregular ever since. It's very upsetting not to feel normal and conceive like normal people.
Are you going to do a FET ?

I hope to do a FET in August but it really depends on if I stay cancer free till then. That will be my 2 year remission date so that is what I am hoping for.
How long have you been in a menopausal like state? When did you get your remission status? I was on nuvaring since before I did my radiation (June 2010) but then I got off of it at the first of the year in the hope that I would be able to get my cycles back. However in April I had no cycles and although the hot flashes were not terrible, I was told that I really should have AF just to keep my uterus primed for a pregnancy. So I went on vivelle dot and prometrium for 3 months and when that didn't cause a period, I went back on the nuvaring. I have been on that ever since (since about July/Aug.). I was told I would need to be on this till either I am pregnant or I stop breastfeeding till I am about 45 (10 more years). So you can imagine I will be doing extended breastfeeding so I can just avoid the hormones altogether for my embryos.
Do you have any frozen eggs or embryos? I really feel bad for those who don't. My cancer was discovered while I was preparing to do my FET so I did have a leg up in that regard. Did your oncologist tell you anything about how long you have to wait to do any kind of cycle? Are you working with any RE's that deal with oncology patients now? I was working with one but I have been without insurance for the last 5 months so I haven't seen her since April. The scans are expensive enough for us.
Sorry to see you in this boat.
I agree that this isn't fun to not be able to conceive and have no hope of every being able to conceive like normal people. I feel like the world is all normal except for me.
Though it is nice you joined so now we have someone to talk to!

I've been in a semi-menopausal state now for about 3 years. AF is very random. I did do IVF before chemo as a fertility preservation, so yes I do have embryo's. I was lucky that it was free for me in my country.
I hope that you're able to get all the 'yes' from the doctors. It's a shame that there aren't more people on these cancer fertility boards.

I am glad you were able to do IVF before treatments.
Yes I too wish this board was more active. However please do stick around. Every now and then we get people then they go away. If you stay around, then the next person that comes around will also have someone else to talk to rather then just me.
Do you have a next step?Jennifer (36) - Final try FET Nov. 12, 2012. You can follow my story at: www.OurUnplannedLife.com (Caution child, child loss, and cancer mentioned in blog)

Hi Ladybugs! I just wanted to drop by and say hi and see how you are doing. I hope everything goes according to plan so you can get the go ahead to cycle again at the end of summer. What kind of tests do you have to have?
How do your drs feel about you taking hormones later on? I don't mean to sound clueless but I've heard so many different opinions on the subject. My mom passed from a very aggressive form of ovarian cancer that was immune to chemo and drugs, so her oncologist recommended I have a hysterectomy as soon as menopause starts, which is why I was so frantic while cycling b/c testing showed I'm heading towards perimenopause. (My mom started menopause in her early 40's and I seem to be following in her footsteps.)
I really hope all of your tests come back all clear and you get the go ahead to cycle again! I probably won't be on FT as often starting next month but I will drop by from time to time to cheer you on!
I'm not on the ivf threads as often so I'm not sure if you posted an update on your dh but I hope the job situation is better!

Hello Vacation! Good luck next month!
I was told that I have to take the BCP until I am 45 years old, unless I am pregnant or nursing. My cancer had nothing to do with my reproductive system so it wasn't feeding off of my hormones. If it was I would be in a different ball game.
DH still doesn't have a job but we are hopeful something will come in the new year.Jennifer (36) - Final try FET Nov. 12, 2012. You can follow my story at: www.OurUnplannedLife.com (Caution child, child loss, and cancer mentioned in blog)
