maagnaa - Scary, indeed!

I just did a lot of reading on mucinous tumors for another bulletin board I post on. There are apparently a lot of versions of mucinous tumors that are benign. Let's pray that's your deal!!!

Who did your surgery - a GYN, RE or GYN-oncologist?

You're very young! I hope your doctor just removed a very pesky tumor that is benign and you can go on to have a healthy reproductive life, all pink and normal inside. Please let us know how the pathology turns out.

maagnaa - You sound like you're doing great! Hope you're recovering from surgery okay.

My suggestion would be to make sure you go over that pathology report when it comes - get a copy for yourself. If there's any gray area with regards to malignancy, then be sure to at least have a consultation with a gyn-oncologist.

As far as fertility and your OB GYN goes, I'm not really sure. I don't think that having a tumor grow or removed necessarily puts you into an infertility risk category. It could be that your reproductive h ealth is vastly improved and you are a Fertile Myrtle now.

One question for your OB GYN - which may be ideally answered by a gyn-oncologist - would be whether or not hormones played a part in the development of your mucinous tumor. You'd probably want to know that before adding high estrogen or progesterone into your system with infertility treatments.

I'm still hoping and praying your pathology is totally benign and you go on to have a manner of children the old fashioned way!

MAAGNAA,

I just read your post today and am wondering how you are and if you have the results of your biopsy. I do hope you are okay.

Six and a half years ago (I was 25), I had a 9x8x8 cm mucinous cystadenoma removed from my right ovary. They left the right ovary there, but it no longer functions. They found it when I was pg with my only child and I had to wait until after my daughter was born to have it removed. Happily it turned out to be benign, but during the pregnancy they saw what they thought was a nodule inside the tumor.

Again, I hope all is well and wish you all the best.
