Had cancer and now infertile- can this help me get insurance coverage?(dd ment)

Hi,

I am a survivor of Hodgkin's disease which sent me into POF at 19. I am now 33 and have one dd who will turn 3 tomorrow via DE IVF. I live in IL which madates coverage for DE IVF. My dh just got a job at a company that is headquarted in CA- and they do not have such laws. So we are being told no IVF coverage is available through our insurance. I would like to know where to go from here, and wondering if, since cancer has caused me to become infertile, if possibly I have a chance to fight this (i.e. infertility was caused by treatment necessary to save my life so my infertility is a medical condition unlike others). Has anyone had a similar situation, living in a mandated coverage state, but insurance headquarted in another state and denied coverage? What did you do about it? Other than insurance- has anyone found a way to get financial assistance (loans, grants, etc.) to help pay for treatment?
My dh got our insurance to pay for $40,000 worth of dental work because my teeth were destoyed by the treatments when everyone told him he didn't have a prayer- so I am wondering if we should give this a shot!
Thank you,
Karyn

I don't know if it will work, but it is worth a chance. I hope it works. Let us know as I am sure there will be others that may want to try.

I hope it works also, but as a fellow cancer survivor (dx in 1995 at 19 with non-hodgkin's lymphoma with surgery, chemo, and radiation) I can pretty much guarantee you won't have any luck from that angle. I'm IF and my hubby is IF for very different reasons...
