a couple of questions

First question is-- now that my LO has been sleeping through the night, I haven't been waking to pump..but I'm wondering if I should be. A couple of times I've set my alarm to get up and pump once at night but a lot of the time I turn it off because I am just so tired. Is it ok to not pump at night? I just don't want it to negatively affect my supply during the daytime.. so far it hasn't. DS sleeps normally from 10 pm-8 am. that varies though too..

My 2nd question is, when I was talking to a co-worker the other day she mentioned how she only nurses her 9 month old daughter twice a day and the other times of the day her daughter gets EBM in a sippy cup. Is this something pediatricians recommend for developmental reasons? Is it ok to just nurse them all day when they're that age? I'm just wondering what you all did/do.

Thanks so much for you support and advice, as always!

Hello! There is no reason to pump at night unless you already have supply or growth issues. Get some much needed rest! Your supply during the day should remain the same as long as your ds's nursing patterns remain similar.

Also, I always nursed on cue. I don't think there is any reason to offer ebm instead of nursing. To me personally it would just be more work and time wasted to pump and clean the pump. Perhaps she is doing it to introduce the sippy cup and transition to some other type of milk when she turns a year? You don't need ebm to do either of these things but people do all sorts of different things.

So, basically, whether you nurse on cue or offer ebm in a cup is up to you and what works best for your family

Definitely it is better for your supply for you to be rested!
At 9mo my DD was getting EBM in a sippy during the day but only because she was at day care, I don't see any reason not to nurse if you are at home. However, I would introduce a sippy earlier (about the time when they start getting into solid foods) just for "fun" and practice - with a little bit of water
