Percocet

Ladies- I have been in severe pain with my back and needed to take a percocet (325mg) along with 5mg of ambien last night. I pumped and was planning to dump it but wanted to check with you first. Is it necessary to dump it?

The best thing for you to do is contact your Ob or your child's pediatrician to see if those medications are safe for nursing mothers. That way you will know for sure and won't have to dump milk if you don't have too. (I had a c-section and took percoset for at least 10 days while continuing to breastfeed my son. I have no idea about the ambien though.)

Perc is fine to BF with... I am unsure about the sleeping pill. The very best place to check is to talk to a LC... My pharmacist is a nursing mom and she is great too. The drs normally will not be truthful to protect themselves. My ped didnt let me take anything. My rx's had the scary stickers. My pharm would just laugh, tell me it was ok and to look for signs of side effects.
