Surviving Father's Day

After spending a good half hour sobbing into my pillow this morning, missing my own daddy (who passed away) and having a pity-party for my DH who has endured tests and many a bad **** mag in the quest to be a father, I stumbled across a funny little website blog. Here is today's post:

Happy Father’s (without Male Factor Infertility) Day--From "999 Reasons to Laugh at Infertility":

“The minute you think of giving up, think of the reason why you held on so long.”

"Don’t let another holiday or day go by feeling depressed and sad about infertility. Today, take your future baby daddy out for brunch (don’t order the scrambled eggs); buy him a gift (we recommend vitamins to improve his lazy a$$ sperm); plan a special outing together (honey, let’s go to that beautiful park today and I’ll let you inject the fertility needle into my belly); or simply spend some time just enjoying each other (honey, you are still not allowed to go into the hot tub).

…Or just hold him tightly and remember how lucky you already are in that moment."

Wannabebe2's Father's Day/Mother's Day Survival Guide 2012:
1) If you are a churchgoer, there is no shame in skipping church on these days that celebrate parenthood. If you feel like you’re going to be overwhelmed/upset by this day, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!
2) Avoid breakfast/brunch out today. Families with screaming kids will fill the restaurants. Instead, make your Daddy-wannabe a nice breakfast/lunch at home, served with a side of vitamins to help with sperm count…
3) Find a quiet place to breathe, relax, read, and otherwise take care of yourself.
