Crazy. Who would have thought that I would still be on the IUI boards after 11 cycles???!!?? After a year of trying on our own with random unprotected sex, followed by a year of well-timed intercourse using the ClearBlue Easy Fertility Monitor, we decided to find an RE. Now it's been 15 IUIs in total (including a few back to backs).

I'm in the hopeful phase of my cycle, 1DPO, and feeling like this is finally the "one". I refuse to allow self-doubt in right now. I was reviewing the notes from the doctor. It seems like the number of sperm reported keep changing on my chart from the time they tell me at the IUI to the time it is put into my file for the doctor to review. I'm mildly disturbed. Anytime you see a slash (i.e. 1.4/4.1) it means that the original number given to me by the lab tech/nurse did not match what was later printed on my chart for the doctor to review.

1) September 2010: Natural Cycle, Natural LH surge. TRANSPORTED SAMPLE, 16 million with 7.5 per cent motility before wash, then 2.6/3.6 million total motile count after the wash, 5 days abstained, 2 follicles, 15 mm, surge day 16

2) October 2010-1: Natural Cycle, Natural LH surge. TRANSPORTED SAMPLE, 3.4 million with 11.8 per cent motility, then 1.1/1.2 million total motile count after the wash, 3 days abstained, 1 follicle, 27 mm, surge day 15
October 2010-2: FRESH SAMPLE, 6.8/7.4 million with 29.7 per cent motility, then 8.0 million total motile count after the wash (somehow he explained that in rare circumstances some of them can be activated in the washing process and actually give you over 100 per cent recovery statistically), 24 hours abstain

3) November 2010 -1: Natural Cycle, Natural LH surge. FRESH SAMPLE, 19.4 million (lab tech clerical error???—later corrected to 1.9/2.5 million…????) with 46.5 per cent motility, then 19.5 million total motile count after the wash (see notes on clerical error), 2 days abstain, 1 follicle 23 mm, surge day 15
November 2010 -2: TRANSPORTED SAMPLE, 2.9 million with 30 per cent motility, then 2.5 million total motile count after the wash... 90 per cent motility said the nurse, 24 hours abstain

4) June 2011-1: Clomid 50 mg days 3-7, Natural LH surge. FRESH SAMPLE, 8.1 million to 1.8 million post-wash total motile count, 24 hours abstain, 2 follicles, 18mm, 21mm, surge day 16
June 2011-2: FRESH SAMPLE, 18.9/8.1 (?) million to 6.0 million post-wash total motile count, 24 hours abstain

5) July 2011: Clomid 50 mg days 3-7, Natural LH surge. FRESH SAMPLE, 33 million with 18.6 motility to 11.0 million post-wash total motal count,, 1 follicle 23 mm, surge day 16, 48 hours abstain

6) August 2011-1: Natural LH surge, TRANSPORTED SAMPLE, 3 million post-wash total motile count, (months on “the potion”, me on 50 mg clomid and 75 IU Gonal-F days 6, 8, 10), 2 days abstain, 2 follicles 22mm, 19 mm
August 2011-2: FRESH SAMPLE, 2.5 million post-wash total motile count, 24 hours abstain, surge day 14

7) September 2011: 50 mg clomid days 2-6 and 75 IU Gonal-F days 6, 8, 10, Natural LH Surge, 1-2 follicles 18mm, 15mm (11, 14, 14): FRESH SAMPLE, 4.2 million post-wash total motile count (original had 46% motility!), 4 days abstain, surge day 12

8) October 2011: 100 mg clomid days 3-7, 75 IU Gonal F Days 6-12, Natural LH surge. 5 mature follies (best response ever!). FRESH SAMPLE: less than 1 million, 1.1 million, with approx. 40 per cent motility. 6 days abstain (DH not feeling well), surge day 15.

9) November 2011: Natural cycle, Natural LH Surge. 2 mature follies. 20 million total motile count after wash. 5 days abstain, surge day 14.

10) March 2012: 100 mg clomid days 3-7, Natural LH surge. 1 mature follicle (25), 7.6 mm lining. 15 million plus BMS that night. 18 days abstain, surge day 13.

11) April 2012: 100 mg clomid days 3-7, 3 pills Femara day 3, Bravelle 75 IU days 6-10, Estrace 2mg Days 10-11, Estrace 1mg Day 12, Trigger shot on Day 13 of Ovidrel 250 mcg, Left ovary 2 mature follicles: 25/29, 20 (13, 12, 12), 8.2 mm lining. Post-wash 13 million. 3 days abstain

CONCLUSIONS: DAY 2 OFTEN BETTER THAN DAY 1, FRESH SAMPLE NUMBERS HIGHER THAN TRANSPORTED SAMPLE, BEST TO ABSTAIN FOR ONLY 1-2 DAYS BEFORE IUI (NO LONGER OR LEVELS DROP), generally surge between day 14-16 naturally.

11 IUI Cycles, 15 IUIs completed... I should get a badge... or at least a freaking bulk buy discount! I'd be happy with some twins at this point!

Wow, good for you for having such a positive attitude. I will begin my first round of IUI in the next two weeks and I'm not sure what to think. They are giving us a 10% chance. My last US w/o meds I had 10 follicles, my FSH is 10 and AMH is 8.4. My husband"s last count was 27 mil/27%motility
I would love your opinion and advice!

I am jealous of your Dhs count! That should certainly make up for the slightly lower motility. With iui the boys are placed right in the sweet spot so they have a much better chance of hitting their target. Let's hope that your plentiful follies yield some good quality eggs for those boys to find. I think that ten per cent is pretty conservative. I'm guessing that you'll only need a max of three cycles to get there. Good luck and stay positive!!
