I am nearly ready for my trip, just need to pack, which I will do tomorrow. I am not even gone or back and am already trying to coordinate with Dh something for our Easter break. Hopefully the snow will stick around and we can get up skiing for a few more days before the season is over. The kids have made such great progress in their lessons this year that I feel like a few more days will get them to a spot where they'll be able to ski with us. I will actually be sad when this ski season is over, it's been a great run this year!

I made a calendar for the kids so that they can place check marks to note the days that we will be gone and be able to keep tally on when we'll return. I put some photos of sights in London at the bottom, one of which is Buckingham Palace. DD asked me what hotel that was  She was ecstatic when I told her that it was a palace where a queen lives. DS was not so impressed, though he did like the "soldiers" that guard the palace. He could not get the name of it correct, though and called it Bucket-Hay Palace.

Dh and I leave for London at the end of this month and will be gone for 6 full nights. It is the longest we will (the two of us) be away from the kids ever. They are going to be here at home with my parents and our ever-capable nanny, yet I am feeling so anxious to leave them.
Given that we're contemplating a job transfer across the pond, I need to go. While Dh is working I am going to be checking our real estate/rentals and private schools for the kids and trying to get a feel if this is something we can take on at this point in our lives.

Already, I am trying to make up excuses to "get out of" going. I'm not sure why? The kids are so excited to have their grandparents here babysitting them that they are practically pushing us out the door and we don't leave for two plus weeks still!

Mother's Guilt is a terrible thing!

Dh was able to fly home from his trip early (due to a problem with his boss' MIL) and I know he was so thankful to be able to make it to the concert and I know the kids were excited to have him there!

They sang "Rudolph" and DS was very excited to be picked as the line leader (an honor given to the model citizen) and lead his class onto stage. The kids had cute antler headbands and the antler portion was made from cut-outs of their hands.

Their music teacher is amazing. I can only imagine the time and hard work it took to teach so many classes of kids the songs, choreography and then to get them to perform it!

What a special night that I will always cherish!

DD's ballet instructor belongs to a ballet company and was performing in it. I'm not sure which one of us loved it more--her for seeing it the first time and seeing her teacher dance "like a real ballerina" or me for the memories of seeing it in my own childhood and now being able to share this with DD?

Seeing it also made me think of Doris, my grandmother's friend. Doris had 2 grandsons and though she never would have said it, ached for a granddaughter. Every year Doris would send me a formal invitation to attend The Nutcracker with her as her "granddaughter for the day". I loved going and will cherish that memory forever. Thanks, Doris, for making me want to give this memory to my own daughter :)

Saturday we took all the kids up to 11,000 ft elevation via the Palm Springs Aerial Tram and let the kids frolic in the snow dumped by the recent rain storm. After we'd all had our fill of cold and snow, we headed down the mountain, hopped in the car and went back to the pool at our townhome for some swimming in 83 degree weather.
Heard from the groomer's insurance company and they informed us that they are denying the groomer's claim yet won't elaborate further with us. Dh took the call and informed the insurance agent that we plan to move forward with our lawsuit against them and will be calling upon her for a deposition and further details.

I left the owner of the grooming shop a message informing them that they denied the claim and once again asking them to reimburse us for the $2542 we had to expend. She called me back and said she is appealing their decision and to give them until Friday. I agreed but after Friday I do feel we need a firm answer one way or another, I'm tired of this being dragged out without any resolution and would love to put it behind us.
