When I took our female pembroke corgi to the vet the Thursday before our Chicago trip she tested positive. I was in shock. She has been loosing weight and not herself for quite a while. She was in this spring for her shots and dh asked the vet about it she told him Lady has allergies. She continued to get worse and he took her into the same place different vet. The vet told him that she had an infection, gave antibiotics and dewormer. She perked up for a couple weeks. We now have to treat her or put her down. I know that it is my and dh's fault. It is easily avoided w/a pill. I just feel like the worst pet owner. What makes it all even worse is that we have a male corgi too. He has yet to be tested but has not had the same poor health as Lady. I am hopeful. My dh is taking Lady in on Monday to have her blood count checked to see if she is strong enough to get the shot. She will also have pain meds as the vet tells us the shot is intramuscular and hurts.
Our trip to Chicago was okay. The kids were over the top wild most of the time but I realize they were out of their element. The museum was awsome. My ds was thrilled by the trains, cars, plane and helicopter. V loved the frogs (me too). We were all impressed w/the U-boat, I was suprised how quiet and well behaved the kids were while we were there. After the museum we went to have ice cream at the hershey store. It was yummy! I took dd to the american girl store. She just at the right age. She wanted to get dolls hair done but was unwilling to leave her w/someone else for two hours. lol.
On Sunday morning we went to the top of the John Hancock building. The views were awsome.
I just wanted to add that if you are a pet owner and are not giving your dog a heartworm pill,do it. We never thought that our dog would get it either.
