Bethany is loads of fun now too.
Mobility/Gross Motor
She has started to stand up/stand on her own. She took about 10 steps Memorial Day but fell when DH went to fetch me and hasn't done it since. Standing still freaks. We're in a rental cabin with stairs and she's having a great time crawling up the stairs and is trying to figure out going down(we don't have stairs at home). I'm not really a fan of this activity. Also has learned to climb. Can get on and off the couch, etc. I think it's time to drop the crib to the bottom though she hasn't tried to climb that yet.
Fine Motor:
She loves to sort things. In and out of baskets, bags, boxes, suitcases. Unscrews caps, unbuckles the top snap of her carseat(once again, not really a fan of that), eats well with her fingers and learning the spoon when she feels like it. Does great with her snack trap and crackers.
Communication:
Understands a lot of stuff. Says Daddy, Doggie, Up, "danku"(thank you), Ma(YAY, the best new word), cookie, uh oh, hi. Mimics a lot. I told DH we had to be careful what we said around her when the dogs knocked over the trash and I was going "yuck, yuck, yuck" she started going "yuck yuck yuck". No need to have her learn the rhyming F word DH is fond of.
She talks to you in gibberish like she's having a conversation. It's hysterical. She's so empathetic about some things.
Last night watching a nature show she was enthralled by the animals and called the wolves "doggies".
Sweet stuff
Hugs, rubs her head on our shoulders like a cat, pats my back, laughs, giggles, and LOVES DH. I'm ok, but DADDY is best. Ducks behind things and bounces up like she's hiding/being found. Knows to clap her hands for "happy and you know it" and roll her hands for "patty cake" and "wheels on the bus".
And I was stunned when she took a cow puppet and put it in the Little People Farm spot for the cow(the door opens and closes and says MOO). She's figuring out her animals. Horse, sheep, pig, cow. She doesn't say it, but she knows it sometimes anyway.
Could do without
tantrums! Yeah, flinging herself on the floor kicking her feet is no fun. Clutching like a monkey when I want to take her from DH and screaming is not fun. Getting mad if she wants to beheld and I need to set her down. no fun. Going rigid for the high chair or the carseat, not fun. And so hard to ignore it and just let her get over it.
learning to be gentle needs to happen: Hitting, slapping, biting, pinching. All unintentional, but still hurt.
