I've read so many articles about this subject as part of my volunteer job. I work with Generation Yers on a daily basis . . . and I can honestly say these articles are not exaggerating! Good grief- . . my favorite part of this job is working with "helicopter parents"- lol

Very interesting article! Love it. We are trying really hard to raise a teenager with some sort of intention. It can be hard. I know lots and lots of kids who struggle with this kind of duality. Luckily, I know there are lots of kids who may want to sound like those kids in the article, but really, they aren't like that, though. I love the part about..."I should get a B just for showing up" ...yeah..that kid will learn, eventually, it's just not how life works.

I warn the teens that live in my house, that the world has its own justice....if they don't learn to say No to themselves....someone bigger is going to come along and teach them the meaning of the word...No. It might be me, dh, a teacher, pastor, law enforcement, someone else's big brother....you get the idea....and boom..they will learn...someday. Oh yeah...and one more thing...it's old fashioned...but I remind the teens in our home...that NOTHING good happens after midnight.
