Random ramblings; my thoughts race through my head and my fingers race across the keyboard so try to keep up

I haven't blogged in a few days; been busy I guess.
Saturday after DH got a shower, I ran to Starbucks and we made some eggs & toast at home. I worked on my homework quite a bit and submitted what I had. DH washed the dog, and I did the regular wash & the dogs bedding. Plus I cleaned. Other then that, DH and I went around town looking for somewhere to donate our old clothes to - we'd cleaned out our closet. We had about 4-5 huge bags and it was mostly really nice, brand name stuff that we just outgrew. Couldn't find a salvation army. The rescue mission in town was in a really bad spot. We tried a few churches but believe it or not, none of them were open on a Sunday. Finally we relented and just dropped our clothes in one of those bins you see around. They sell the clothes, which we didn't want, but claim their proceeds go to a certain charity. I hope that's the truth, but honestly we were sick of driving around trying to find somewhere to unload them. I still can't believe the churches weren't open - doors locked and all - back in NJ they're open 24/7 and have Saturday mass. *shrugs*
Trick-or-treat night was ok. I'd say we got around 100 kids. I felt bad for them; it'd been drizzling out all day and then no sooner did all the kids set out on foot and it started pouring. It didn't last long, and the kids didn't seem to care, but ugh! It started at 6pm and we handed the last of our candy out at 8pm when it was over. No more candy in the house to tempt me...just have to avoid buying more.
Sunday we both wound up going to Starbucks. Then we went to the mall but it wasn't open yet so we had some breakfast at the corner bakery, where I made a small fool of myself. The total was $13 something and I handed the cashier $25. Worst part is, I didn't realize what I'd done - so she and DH are staring at me like idiots - and I still didn't get it till after we'd sat down and I had thought about it. DH kept making comments like I must still be half asleep. He meant well but for some reason I was taking offense to it and got a bit emotional over the whole ridiculous thing. *sigh*
Once we were done eating, we popped into Barnes & Noble so I could grab a few books, then we walked around the mall. DH needs new pants for interviews. We looked in Macy's - half of them were on sale for cheap - but he didn't see any he liked. *shrugs* He's pretty picky when it comes to clothes.
I can't think of anything else we did Sunday. I think I spent the majority of the day reading & watching football. I lost my Fantasy Football this week...my FIL beat me by 2 stinkin' points. I play DH this week.
DH went to bed early Sunday night (8pm) due to a massive headache. I wound up staying up and watching this scary movie on Lifetime...family moves into an old farmhouse and the teenage girl starts seeing things. I was hooked.
Monday I was up at 8:30...DH woke up too. I went about putzing around on the computer and next thing I know I hear the garage door open and the Jeep start up - so I go racing downstairs, stick my head out the door, and say, in a somewhat sarcastic tone, "Have a nice day, I love you too" - to which DH replied...he knows I always want a kiss before he leaves! I think he was still just half asleep.
My mom was a few minutes late but she came bearing gifts - diapers, wipes, a diaper genie, 4 Avent bottles & a microwave sterilizer for the bottles that I'd registered for. (Not to mention the leftover ham& string bean soup she brought...mmmmmm) Woohoo! We put it all up in the babies room and then headed out - first stop BRU. She went nuts on outfits - and had to get two of each outfit so the twins will be dressed alike for at least a week. I'm glad she was there, because on my own I haven't been able to bring myself to shop clothes. I get overwhelmed thinking I'll get lots for a shower, or they'll outgrow them, etc.
I hadn't eaten breakfast yet and I started breaking out in a sweat and getting a tiny bit dizzy so I went and sat down by the registry center. I've never had that happen yet...had me worried for a minute, but it passed relatively quickly and I just made sure to slow it down.
After BRU, we went to the mall. We looked around Boscov's and my mom went to check out the book store. While she did, I got an OJ and a couple shortbread cookies from Starbucks and planted my butt down. I felt much better after eating a little something. Guess I was just wiped out.
We walked around the mall a little; my mom had to find a grab bag like gift. She wound up getting a really nice snow globe at Things Remembered - originally $40 on sale for $15. It was really nice looking too; not cheap like a snow globe sounds.
After the mall, we went to the Olive Garden and both had some soup, salad, and breadsticks for lunch. It hit the spot - perfect amount of food.
Then I coerced her into going to Burlington - I really just reminded her as it was part of the plan. Looking back, I feel kind of evil for doing so. She wound up buying a few more outfits. Burlington has the stroller & car seats I registered for in pattern too. They're $10 cheaper/ea at Burlington and in stock whereas BRU has them online only. Lord only knows what shipping would be. Well, I had some cash available to spend, so I told her I wanted to buy them. Well, you know how moms are - that wasn't good enough - so she wound up buying one and I bought the other. Luckily, the lady who got them off the shelf for us gave us a $15 off coupon. I feel really bad that my mom is spending all this money on us. They're typically not hurting, but it's just not a good time of year w/ Christmas and all.
So, for the day I made out w/ 2 infant carseats, 10 random onesies, 2 matching onesies that say "I love mommy", 5 hats, 6 socks, 2 mittens, 6 bibs, 2 sets matching set outfits, 3 sets one-piece outfits, 2 swaddlers, & 3 hooded towels. I washed it all when I got home yesterday and it's hanging in the babies closet. I just put it back on the hangers it came on - figure the sizes on the hangers will help me keep things organized till I figure out a better way...
I also put together the diaper genie, cleared a cabinet out for bottles & the sanitizer, and transferred a box of newborn diapers into my diaper stacker so that I could make more room in the closet. I was pooped till it was all said and done!
DH got home about 20 minutes after I'd finished up. We watched TV but he turned on Anthony Bourdain and I got hungry from watching all the good stuff they were eating so we made dinner - he made veal cutlets and I made couscous and corn to go with it. I stuffed myself thoroughly. Followed it up later that night with some potato chips & oreos. It's bout time to go grocery shopping again - no healthy snacks. I also got a bath which means I read for a bit.
Today it's back to work. I woke up early, drenched in my own sweat. My side of the bed was drenched in it too. I remember dreaming that some group...not really terrorists but some government regime was doing searches on everyone's stuff. We were to go through an entire room full of our belongings and could only take a small garbage bag with us "home". I remember trying to hide stuff at one point - though I was certain they'd find it as they were being VERY thorough. I also remember crying my heart out as they threw away my stuff (like a turtle sandbox that in real life I never had). I told them it was far too much to put a hormonal pregnant woman through. At the "end" of the dream, I was "home" and I heard a baby - I guess my baby - was calling her Maya. Then I woke up...weird! Aside from that, I was pleasantly surprised when it was light out on my way to work - though it was very chilly too.
Well, work beckons. Have homework to do and maybe actual work. Boss is traveling thru Thursday, but some other stuff is finding its way to me. Fun. And my back already hurts...it hurts like heck when I'm trying to sleep too (body pillow or not). I don't know how I'm laying wrong, but I must be. *shrugs*
PS. I told my mom the names and she loves Kelly Caitlyn. (She was going to recommend Caitlyn - she got all freaked out when I told her...haha) She likes Alexis but not so much the middle name. Still working on it. I didn't care for any of her suggestions though. LOL.

The granola bar is a good idea - I will have to start doing that!
I meant to have some strawberries before I left yesterday but DH had the fridge too low and they were frozen
Can't decide on a middle name for Alexis. Was originally thinking Analisse but it just doesn't flow. Since then I've contemplated Kaylee, Alanna, and some other "Al___" name that is escaping me at the moment. I may have to go through my book of 6,000 names again...lolPosted 11-03-2009 at 06:59 AM by tdg119

Becareful of the sizes, not all are true to size. When DS was a newborn, we missed some clothing because I went by size on the label and found out that they are not all the same size. At 4 months he was in some 9 month outfits. The clothing just happened to run smaller than stated. We were given clothing by my SIL who's son is a year older than DS and they still had tags on them. Again due to the size problem.
With DD, I sat down before she was born and layed everthing out on the floor and sized it all. Piles of small, medium, large, extra large. I than got a tote and layed the largest sizes on the bottom than worked my way up to the smaller sizes. That way when she out grew the onsies/ sleepers I could just pull out the next size and rotate out the smaller outfits. Saved me tons of time in the end.Posted 11-03-2009 at 08:40 AM by lrmc
