I believe if the offense is against a person under the age of 18, then they are not allowed on school grounds or to live within a certain area of the school. If it is a crime over the age of 18, then it is ok. Only reason I know this is we had a convicted rapist in our district and he was no barred from being at the school.

They have to live more than a 1 mile radius away from the school. Theres 3 types of offenders here and i am pretty sure all of them are NOT allowed near, in or around a school. He will be on the website for sex crimes. He will not be able to go to sporting events. He coudl try and sneak i supposed but let someone report him and that woudl just be ugly for the kids. Like life ruining.

I really just do not understand. Any other crime, I may of plea bargained. But never ever that. I am sorry, it really must suck for you guy.

I guess because the alleged incident happened before they changed the law to involve the distance from the schools, he is able to remain in his home. They live a quarter mile from the high school and an elementary.

I guess we will figure it out as things progress.

oh wow, I REALLY hope his lawyers did not lie to him. I think pedophiles/offenders living and being near children is not grandfather-able.

That would outrage me if it was. Like if someone was guilty and found guilty and did do it. If they coudl still live by a school for any reason (the date especially) I woudl be PISSED. I hope his lawyers did not set him up to be further tuned upside down

I hope so too, Kim. My dh is still on pins and needles, as we all are...waiting to find out the ramifications of this.

I am just so sad that my kids can never have Papa come to a ballgame or whatever to see them. My dh has dreamed his whole life about fil coaching his kids in baseball. Now he can't even go to the ballfield to watch them play. Because some wench can create a lie and force an innocent man to give up his dignity and pride.

He had to make the deal or he would have had to face going to prison for something he didn't do, and being treated in prison as a sex offender...they are treated the lowest of the low in there. He needed to do this so he can work and provide for his family and not be raped and whatever in prison...and die there. He had already told us he would have take his life if that were to be the outcome. And who could blame him?

so i guess this is better...but it still just SUCKS !!!!
