First Communion

My dd's First Communion is this weekend. She's excited, but I "think" it's more excitment about the dress, and the shoes, than the actual event itself.
My MIL took her shopping and got her a beautiful white dress. It has large straps, and a little jacket to go over it. She also bought her shoes, her first set of "high heels". They are not really all that high, maybe half your thumb in height, but to a girl of 7, it's a high heel, lol. She will wear my wedding headpiece in her hair. I will do her hair myself, in curls, which she loves, a nd amazingly will sit while I do them!
We live in a Townhouse complex, a Co-op actually, and I have booked the Community Centre to use after the Communion to have a small party for her, with a light lunch. The biggest drawback to this - no privacy. People can (and will), wander in and out, and have been known to help themselves to the food (mostly children, and I usually don't mind, if they use their manners and ask first!) The other issue, is that I won't have time in the morning before church to skoot over and make sure it's clean (and it may be clean before church, but may not necessarily be clean when we come back).
So while I'm looking forward to this day, I dread the work it creates. I hate that the only guests who RSVP'd are our family, and they really didn't have to, because we already knew they would be there. So food, and beverage will be a guessing game. A trip to the market, early Saturday, lots of chopping veggies, taking a little girl for a manicure (her first one!), a trip to the dollar store, a dance class, a ball hockey game, all amount to one VERY busy weekend!
Can I have a weekend to recouperate from my weekend, lol!
I don't think I'll be able to post pictures as I don't have an upgraded membership, but I will if I can!
