DH made some Taiwanese dessert. Yum!
What a treat! I need him to teach me how to make this.

It's called Tau Huay (literally means tofu flower; called douhua in Mandarin), made from soft tofu. Very mild dessert with ginger sauce and tapioca & peanut topping. Not too sweet, which I prefer.
They also have this dessert in other Asian countries but of different versions. We also have this in the Philippines.
There are three batches there, biggest one for us, the 2nd biggest for his parents and the smallest for one friend.

No, it is much softer than annindofu. You scrape off from the top to serve. I *think* he got the powder at a Taiwan specialty store. I knew he was boiling & stirring for some time at the kitchen and then he let it cool and then put in the fridge to let it firm some. I will ask dh in the morning! I bet you can buy a packet at your local Chinese stores.
I added a wiki link in the original post. That should help you guys with the English name and maybe you can find it somewhere over there.Posted 11-02-2009 at 12:30 PM by shogun
