The kids and I had dinner with 3 girlfriends I taught with at my first teaching job. I taught there for 4 years and these girlfriends are people I'll treasure the rest of my life. They are all so great. We had a lot of fun catching up. One of them I keep in touch with pretty consistently. We were in the same Bunko group until I had to quit when I started grad school. All of a sudden my week is quickly filling up. Tomorrow is our only free day now. We are going to head to the library to return our books, record our reading records and check out some more. Then, go pick out some more paint card samples. I am agonizing over colors for the inside of our home! Tuesday I have a teacher inservice all day. Wednesday a good friend is coming over for lunch with her two boys. She is going to bring pizza, so the kids will love that. I can't wait to see her. We ...

I finished unpacking my classroom today. DH is off all week, so I'm taking advantage of time to do things. I got everything unboxed and in its place. Now I just need to do some decorating. I'm thinking of two themes to choose from: either a western/cowboy theme or an animal print theme. With the western theme I can do things like "Wanted: Great writers/readers" type of stuff and with the animal print I can go with "Wild about writing/reading"...I need to go to the teacher ...

We are all officially done with swim team and swim lessons, so our days will now be very un-busy! I am ready for a break of running places everyday. The boys had a very good time with their lessons. I can't say they are expert swimmers now, but at least they are way more comfortable in the water and can swim underwater for a pretty decent length.

I had my appointment to do my new employee paperwork today and it felt great to have everything finalized. I signed my contract weeks ago, but this was all the remaining items. I also got my ID badge made and it just all seems so official now. I am supposed to get my keys tomorrow, so I need to call the secretary and see if that's possible. I already had a bad dream that my room was not ready for the first day of school! Yikes! I have plenty of time, so not to worry.

Things have been pretty busy this summer so far. Taylor has swim practice 3-4 mornings per week. She loves it and is really doing well. The boys love to watch all the kids swim laps with the different strokes. They are taking lessons in the evenings at our local recreation center/wave pool/golf course. It's a really nice place and I'm so glad it's close to our home. They have a really nice fitness center too that DH and I are going to join. So, our days are already pretty busy, but that's ...

We are having terrible thunderstorms tonight and awfully high winds! We just had a clap of thunder that made DH and I both jump! I'm shocked that the boys didn't wake up. It's supposed to be pretty short-lived according to the radar, so hopefully it will quiet down really soon!

The boys are spending the night at my mom's tonight. They hadn't seen them in a couple of weeks so they were ready! They were so excited when I picked them up from school and started heading over there. I hope they have a good time! Mom was going to make them hot dogs for dinner!

Tonight we had the dedication ceremony for our new school. It was fabulous. The event was coordinated and paid for by the district and it was a great affair. There were all kinds of appetizers, floral arrangements, district and board officials...all very nice. There must have been 300 or so people (teachers, other principals, parents, kids, etc). It was a great ceremony. DD is in the school choir and they did a great job debuting the school song. They sounded like angels. My principal ...

I was so nervous about taking Statistics this semester. So far I have a 4.0 in my graduate classes and I just knew that this class would be my first B (or lower!!). Well, I have made almost all 100%'s on my first 4 chapter quizzes! I made a 13/15 on one of them. It's an online course, so I was very nervous about a math class with no personal feedback or "teaching" from a human person. But I'm doing great! I am so proud of myself. Math is my weakness.
