Yes I am going to brag...

I have never been one of those moms. I know how annoying they can be. Or how annoying everyone perceives them to be. However now I have to put this down because well it is amazing.
Let me preface this by saying both of my kids are very smart. They always have been. My DD made straight A's all last year. So far I have no trouble with either one with homework. As a matter of fact Ali loves homework and could not wait to get it. So much in fact that she began doing her extra credit homework for the year the day she received it. She also gets her homework for the week on Mon, and does it all on Monday.
I don't think she has ever gotten less than 100% on a spelling test.
My son has always been different though. He reminds me of the way his daddy thinks. Outside the box. At 2 when we began Parents As Teachers the lady we work with commented on how well he did puzzles. He was reading before K. And he always seemed to have this incredible knowledge of math.
I have been worried since he started school because he can be a spirited boy. He can be loud, distract-able, and he never stops talking. ADD runs rampant in my family, and to top it all off my husband has pretty severe ADD. My biggest concern though was that he would be bored and that would cause him to act out.
I was surprised when he settled down in K though and seemed to learn pretty quickly what he was supposed to be doing.
This year his behavior has been pretty good. They have a Green, Yellow, Orange, Red system. He has yellow days more often than I would like though they are mixed in with lots of green.
Alright get to the point Kim. LOL I always ask about ADD and PTC because it is a concern of mine. So Wed at Ephraim's conference I ask, and was shocked by her response.
"ADD, no, I don't think so", she says. "What I really think is going on is your son is very gifted. " With this she gives me a paper to have him tested to go to a gifted school once a week for the whole day.
We continue talking and all of my concerns she says that it is normal when a child is gifted.
Not sure what to think. I guess we will get him tested and see if he qualifies. By the way he is 6 and in 1st grade.
