So Why Do Boys?...

Now that I have gotten your attention, this not a question that DD asked. I truly want to know why!

We just had the ped appointment from HE**! I noticed that it looked like Tanner had developed a yeast infection over the weekend. Well, we have been treating it with Lotrimin and it hasn't gotten any better. I took him to the ped to get it checked and get a stronger cream for it.

I have noticed that Tanner seems to have a lot of skin around the head of his penis. Generally it barely peaks out to greet you. So, I decided to ask about that. He doesn't look the same as his cousin, but his cousin didn't get circed until he was around 5 months old. I thought, well he was a little bigger than Tanner was when Tanner had his done in the hospital...eventually Tanner's would look more "normal".

Well, WRONG!!! Apparently we weren't pulling the skin back far enough (I was stopping at resistance like I was told to do in the hospital) and his skin had begun reattaching. So, they RETRACTED the skin while we were there. OUCH!!!! The skin was full of yeast and hence the reason for the yeast infection on the rest of him.

They should give you a manual on boy parts before they send you home. Tell you that you should pull the skin back until you see the ridge. Tell you it should look like DHs when he is happy to see you (That was the NPs words to me ).

That was the Drs appointment from he** and I hope to never repeat it! At least now I know!

    Hi Kim,

I didn't think that you had to do anything with a circed child. Or an uncirced one for that matter. I have two sons - the oldest is circed and the youngest isn't. Although I respect everyone's decision about their baby boys, we often joke that we "came to our senses" between the two boys and didn't have the second one done. We have done absolutely nothing with either one and so far (crossing fingers) there have been no issues. I hope your little guy is better soon!
